Having stayed in Oban area before we thought we knew what we were coming to. We were wrong. Melfort Village is idyllic and very family friendly. Not only that but it is situated in a beautiful and relatively quiet part of Argyll which felt quite undiscovered. In fact, it would probably have remained undiscovered by us if it were not for Melfort's treasure, Olwen who works at the village. She welcomed us so warmly and gave us some great hints and tips about where to go for wildlife spotting even before we had our first night's sleep! I heartily recommend the morning welcome meeting - there was no discussion at ALL about time share sales - it was all about where to go, things to see, good walks etc. Thanks a million Olwen. We didn't get to go everything so we will have to come back but we saw so much in such a short space of time. Olwen arranged a boat trip on the Farsain from Cruibh Haven with Duncan. What an incredible 3 hours and worth every single penny and more! We saw dolphins, 3 sea eagles, ravens nesting, guillemots, gannets, razorbills, feral goats and so much more incl the correyvreckan. Oh and I should say, the accomodation in Melfort was great too with everything we needed and a great swimming pool. I think we were out more than we were in but it was just what we needed and the kids made friends too.
