House, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
Casa Mambo is our newest rental and was our home for the last decade. This three bedroom house has many unique features including a spiral staircase made of three different tropical hardwoods and a shower with exquisite mosaic tile art that expresses the true beauty of your natural surroundings. The house is full of detailed woodworking with much of the lumber harvested right here on our farm.
Casa Mambo is situated in the middle of our 8 acres of spectacular garden we developed over the last 19 years, further surrounded by many shades of lush green forest and fruit trees. Kick back, relax and enjoy the mesmerizing view from the finely crafted deck and enjoy the many different birds and wildlife. The house has a large living room and dining room/kitchen attached to the deck, which makes it all the more enjoyable for families or groups of friends.
There are two bedrooms with queen size beds and one with two singles which can sleep up to 6 persons total. The upstairs master bedroom has its own private half bath. All the bedrooms have fans and mosquito nets for each bed. Staying here in the middle of our tropical paradise is like dancing the Mambo. Hence the name!
The house is equipped with high speed wireless internet throughout for our guests. Just bring your laptop and you're connected to cyber space!
Of course our newly added salt water swimming pool is very popular with our guests. Three generations from one family were our first guests to take a refreshing dip and hang out poolside.

Why Pamela and Carter chose Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
We bought 8 acres of this beautiful land 22 years ago and moved here to Costa Rica in 1994. Puerto Viejo is a charming little town and we fell in love with it immediately. Its spectacular beauty speaks for itself.
What makes this House unique
This house sits in the middle of a garden we've been developing for over 20 years. Everywhere you look you see fruit trees, ornamental plants and lush green jungle. Birds and wildlife abound. It's close to town, but totally secluded with a feeling of privacy seldom experienced in a rental.

Perfect for our family , stunning location
Pamela has created a really wonderful place to come and stay. We stayed in a 3 bedroom house which was really well provided for in terms of kitchen appliances, crockery and utensils. The beds were comfortable and everything was easy. There was plenty of space and it was lovely that the living area is open to the garden. The pool is awesome. Yesterday we spent most of the day enjoying it to ourselves as it was so relaxing . The garden is incredible , the fauna, birds, sloths... it goes on , there is always something to watch! Pamela is an attentive host and a very interesting lady.
I would come back in a heartbeat.
Muchas gracias for the wonderful description of our place. It is so good to see that our guests see and feel the beauty that inspired us in the first place. We would love to have you back someday, we wish you an amazing trip full of learning, joy and adventures. Pura vida!!
An Incredible Experience!
We just got back from our trip to Costa Rica and absolutely loved staying at Casa Mamba! Pamela was incredible! She gave us great recommendations on places to eat and dance at in town and was very hospitable. The house was probably one of the coolest places I have ever stayed! Our group of 5 was looking for a jungle experience but still wanted access to the beach and this place was perfect for that. We saw agouti's, toucan's, dart frogs, and lots of other wildlife on the property. We didn't get much sleep because the wildlife starts to wake you up around 4:30am - including howler monkeys. The salt water pool felt amazing after a hot day in Puerto Viejo. We rented bikes from a hostel in town near the main grocery store, but should have gone with Pamela's recommendation instead. We had several issues with flats, the chains popping off, etc. :( The only thing that could have made the experience better is that it would have been nice to have towels to use at the beach along with some kind of snorkel equipment available at the house. The house was a bit far from the main town- but bike rentals made a huge difference. We wanted to see the town after dark but biking on the dirt roads was a bit scary - however, I think Puerto Viejo is working on paving more of their roads so this may be improved in the future :) Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Costa Rica! We wish we had more time there. Pura Vida!
Jungle Get Away
Carter and Pamela are amazing hosts! Always available for every question regarding the house to places to eat to local activities to the best beaches to visit. The house was exactly what we were looking for, open air, true Caribbean living! Our family was very comfortable here for a week. The pool is a great upgrade, you won't be disappointed. I can't say enough great things about this place. You won't regret booking!
Great tropical getaway!
This was a fantastic place surrounded by jungle. The windows open up to the house to bring the outside in as well as the open floor plan in the living room/dining area and the bathroom. Pamela and Carter were very hospitable and helpful. I would highly recommend this great jungle house. (Love the outside shower!)
We absolutely loved our stay at Pamela and Carter's place near Puerto Viejo. The property is just as described. The garden is beautiful and filled with wildlife. The house is very comfortable and we enjoyed all the unique features, such as the open living area and outdoor shower. The rooms are clean, beds comfy, and the kitchen does the trick! The house feels secluded and very private even though there are other houses on the property. We enjoyed the pool immensely, it provided welcome relief to the heat and humidity and it was so much fun to watch sloths and toucans in the trees while soaking in the cool pool. The howler monkeys came by in the morning and there was an array of birds that visited regularly. If you are lucky enough to be there at the right time, don't miss watching Carter perform at Lazy Mon while enjoying a $5 burger!! One of our best nights on the whole trip!! We loved staying at Casa Mambo and hope we can come again soon.
Thank you very much for your review, it was a pleasure to meet you and your beautiful familia. Pura vida,
Pamela y Carter
Loco Natural Jungle Houses
Amazing ten days at Finca Loco Natural!
We stayed at Finca Loco Natural for ten days in March 2017. We rented Casa Mambo, the three bedroom two bathroom house on the property. Everything about the little house was perfect, from the outdoor shower (imagine having a shower outside while someone on a neighbouring property plays the saxophone), to the open living room with the hammocks, to the excellent wifi and the beautiful wood and tile work that is everywhere you look.
Finca Loco Natural is incredible. We woke up each morning to the sound of howler monkeys in the trees above us, and went to bed each night listening to the crazy sounds of the jungle and watching the bats and the fireflies. (Note to very light sleepers, you might want to bring earplugs! My son found that he needed them, as the jungle never truly sleeps). Twice we saw sloths on the property, once was a momma with a baby just a stones throw from where we relaxed in the pool. We saw toucans, and agoutis, and snakes and spiders and butterflies and birds and frogs and ants. It was like living in a nature documentary.
Pamela and Carter are great hosts, always around if you need them but never intrusive. They have an assortment of friendly dogs who occasionally pop by to say hi as well. Carter plays in a local band, and we spent a couple of very enjoyable evenings listening to him play. Pamela teaches yoga and offers massage and healing treatments, and my only regret from this whole trip is that I kept putting off booking some time with her, and then my days run out and I was packing to go! They are very kind, knowledgeable people and they were a huge help with things like renting bicycles and sorting out seafood restaurants, grocery shopping and things like where to snorkel.
The casa has everything you need to make simple meals in the open kitchen. My favorite was getting up very early to Costa Rican coffee and avocado toast on the deck. The opportunity to sit and watch and listen to the jungle wake up was brilliant, and I have been missing it ever since I come home.
Playa Negra, the black sand beach, is only a few minutes walk down a country road, and also very close by is a little general store and a Beach Sports bar. A fifteen minute walk down the beach and you are in Puerto Viejo, which is this crazy groovy laid back funky little town and worthy of it’s own review! We had rented a car in San Jose, so we managed to see a lot of the surrounding area, and it was so nice at the end of a hot day to return to our quie
Gracias for your comments of our place. We loved having your family staying with us. We hope you come back someday. Pura vida y muchas gracias
A walk through our nature trail down to the creek and upstream to a beautiful little waterfall. Canopy Tour, and Live Music!
