Vrbo offers three different options to help you manage your property’s lodging taxes. Tax jurisdictions may require you to collect and pay some lodging taxes while requiring us to collect and remit others. No matter which option you choose, we will always collect and remit the taxes where we are required.

Tax collection options

Important: Starting July 1, 2025, if you have a property in Greece, you will no longer be able to set your own tax rates for collection.

No tax collection

If you choose this option, there’s no change to how you collect taxes. You’ll have to continue to collect, file, and pay taxes that you’re responsible for to local tax authorities outside of our platform.

Collect my taxes and send them to me

If you choose this option, we automatically collect taxes from travelers. Taxes will be sent to your bank account (at no extra cost) with your regular booking payout. You’re responsible for filing and paying taxes to your local tax authority.

To choose this option, go to your property's Calendar page, select Settings, and then Taxes. Based on the requirements of your property’s jurisdiction, you might be asked to provide some of the following information:

  • Taxpayer identification number
  • Business license/ registration number
  • Certificate of authority number
  • Tax registration number

If your jurisdiction doesn’t require registration or issue identification numbers, you can enter the property address.

For properties in Greece

If you own a property in Greece and choose the “Collect my taxes and send them to me” option, here’s what you need to know starting July 1, 2025:

  • Set your rates: You must go to your property's Calendar page, select Settings, and then Taxes to provide the required information. This action will ensure the correct tax rates are applied.
    • Value-added tax (VAT) will only be collected if both of the following criteria are met:
      • You selected “Collect my taxes and send them to me"
      • You are "registered" and provided a VAT ID number
    • The rental price entered should be without VAT.
  • Need help? If you believe the tax rates on your listing are incorrect, please select Contact Us at the bottom of this page.
