Small but perfectly formed
5 Oyston's Yard is a small & cosy cottage very close to the centre of Whitby. There are a few things worth knowing. 1) There is no car access to the property. It is at the end of a narrow alley which opens out onto Flowergate. Worth knowing if you will be bringing a lot of luggage. Parking in Whitby is a bit of a nightmare. We didn't attempt to understand the disc/permit system, but just used the long-stay car park on Back St Hilda's Terrace which was about £8 per day and is pretty close. 2) The attic bedroom is at the top of a narrow staircase. You have to duck down at the top of the staircase to get into the room. Coming down the stairs you have to sit on the top step and then start down. It would be perfect for kids but not ideal for anyone over a certain age. 3) We visited in November. The attic bedroom was pretty cold at night so bring your jim jams. Generally the cottage was great..central, smart & cosy. We used the wood-burning stove each night. It was good to have access to Netflix too. Recommended.....just be aware of the car access and the top bedroom.
