GREAT PLACE TO STAY!
My husband &I really enjoyed this old town casita! It’s just around the corner to the “hop on, hop off” bus that we used to see & visit some major sights in San Diego (without the hassle & costs of parking). The place itself is also cute, clean, comfortable, & was one of the most “well stocked” for kitchen & bathroom items. With great commication with the owner Steve, we give this place an easy “5” stars!

Great Casita
Everything was just perfect for our mini vacation. Location was great being one street over from Old Town. Easy access to freeways and walk to the trolley station. Off street parking was a plus.

Excellect Location and Great Apartment
This rental was perfect! Close to Old Town and the Transit Center. Lots of room and everything was clearly explained. Nice area outside to sit with coffee and another area for outdoor eating with a grill. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and more. The host was great sending us directions/maps to groceries and information on tours. We are definitely staying here again. Thanks!

Great vacation, awesome host!
Needed to get some serious down time and found this cute little gem in Old Town. With such a great location we found it very easy to access transit/train. Steve was on site when we arrived and throughout our stay was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had about the place or things to do in San Diego. Highly recommended!! Thank you for being such a great host!

Victims of Double Booking error
90% of this 1 Star review regards our experience with the VRBO host owner. Worst VRBO nightmare…our months ahead, paid for 5 night reservation, was “lost” by host and our first night was double booked. Next, chaos from inability to reach the host (he was out of the country). VRBO had our reservation correct, but couldn’t tell us why the property was double booked. VRBO couldn’t reach the host. We and VRBO had no knowledge of host’s son being a contact. A neighbor told us to call the son. The son’s help was overshadowed by his words to my husband and I…“Why should I help you, if you’re just going to give my dad a bad review anyway.” The son did say “dad is old school” and nothing online at all, just a home paper calendar. No web access! Owner finally communicated with us by email, his curt reply to me was ”You are welcome to a full refund” Future emails to my husband included excuses (it’s $65 to make a phone call from our ship). We needed a simple phone call, not hiding with emails and blaming VRBO. Two vacation days were ruined even after VRBO found us a hotel. The casita location is great, place was clean. Some amenities below expectations. The pullout couch is uncomfortable. The Wi-Fi service was sketchy which impacted the Roku TV. In past reviews, people made improvement comments, but the host was immediately defensive…that’s unprofessional. We fully expect that to happen here. Several avoidable mistakes were made by host owner.

We love to provide a comfortable stay and please our guests! Old Town San Diego is one of our passions and we spend a lot of time here too. Our careers were with the local telephone company and after retirement we started our new work in residential real estate. It's great to be a part of this community preserving the history and sharing a place in America's Finest City!

Why they chose this property

The location! You don't have to drive anywhere to eat, shop, or just stroll! The location is perfect for; convenience, beauty, history, art, and fun! Directly across the street from the Old Town San Diego State park which has shops, museums, restaurants, and even a blacksmith shop with some live demonstrations! So many of our guests who are trying vacation rentals for the first time are convinced to choose us over hotels for their future visits and we now have some frequent visitors! Please read our reviews! You really can walk to the transit center in 6 minutes to ride the San Diego Trolley, The Coaster Train, or the Amtrak Train. Taxis and buses are also here. Restaurants, shopping, museums, and more, are all at your doorstep. While at your comfortable home away from home, you can enjoy the large furnished patio, barbecue for yourself or friends & family, watch Netflix Videos, or relax and get a good nights rest on the comfortable pillow top queen bed. Your extra 1 or 2 paid-guests can also enjoy the fold-out Sofa Sleeper that was comfort tested before we chose it for you! The kitchen and the rest of the house are well equipped and ready for you to plan your next trip to Beautiful and fun Sundiego!
We have a separate laundry room and a couple of bicycles too! Many guests like to use the BBQ and relax on the patio deck- there's so much to do here or just do nothing and rejuvenate.

What makes this property unique

We gave a lot of attention to to the details and setting up a vacation haven and hope you'll enjoy our little slice of paradise. We've had many guests from; the US, locally, and all over the world, and many have commented that it seemed like we have EVERYTHING! That's probably not true but sounds nice. We have a convenient and FREE limited off-street parking space and we pride ourselves on having a site near where California was first visited & settled by Europeans! The Birthplace of California! We're sure you'll wonder why you would even need a car as you walk to so many great attractions! It's quiet inside relaxing in the living room or catching a nap. Outside you can sit on the large private patio and read, dine, or cook on the BBQ. Need to do some laundry? Just let us know since it's locked for security & $2 per load to offset costs for guests who don't need it. Fast wash feature & dry and liquids you might need are furnished.
