The space
'Little Plovers' is our new for 2021 Blackdown Shepherd hut and is in the spot we had a glamping tent two summers ago. The guests who stayed then all really enjoyed the peace and tranquility in our garden. It’s made up our minds to go further and invest in this lovely cosy, romantic and warm Shepherd Hut. Made in the heart of Somerset using British materials and workmanship.

You have your own dedicated indian stone terrace and we have planted lots of lovely plants to give you some privacy in your own garden. You are also welcome to enjoy the 'wildlife corner' just to the side of the hut where there is a small pond and where we are re-wilding this area.
Lots of visiting birds, squirrels and insects.

Set in our Fruit Orchard you will be surrounded by nature and enjoy sounds of our neighbours chickens, horses (please do not feed) and delightful wildlife including a huge array of garden birds, squirrels and occasionally the odd deer or rabbit! Please let Bruce or me know if you see either of the latter as we do not want them in our veggie patch!

There is a coal Weber bbq, a fire pit, comfortable bench, parasol, table and chairs. The first basket of logs for the log burner is free, after that it is £5 per basket. Same charge for logs for the fire pit. Honesty jar in the hut. £5 per basket.
Bbq coal bags are £5 each. please advise if you would like these.

We have a couple of bikes if you’d like to make a donation of say £10 each per day.
If arriving by car there is a dedicated Airbnb parking space for your vehicle, once parked you walk on the path between our cottage and stable sheds, follow the lit stone pathway down to the end of garden and you will see Little Plover Shepherd hut right in front of you! If we are around the hut will be unlocked otherwise there is a key lock to the right of the hut on the wall of the hut, code provided on booking.

If you are travelling with friends/family we also have a delightfully cosy ground floor bed room with king sized bed with its new separate private front door entrance.
En-suite shower. We have been running this as a B&B for three years now and it’s still a popular choice. It is in the cottage on the ground floor and has a lovely view of our cottage garden. It has its own kitchenette, silent fridge, kettle and toaster and microwave and an en-suite shower room. Work space/dining table, chairs and own terrace area.

Little Plover Shepherd hut is positioned about 60m from our cottage in our orchard. There is everything you need for an extremely comfortable and luxurious stay, log burner, shower ensuite , toilet and wash hand basin. Kitchen includes sink, taps, fridge, bin, kettle, toaster, microwave, crockery, cutlery pots and pans to self cater very comfortably. The double bed has the most comfortable mattress and simply pulls down from the wall ready made for you with Egyptian cotton bedding.

We are delighted that there is a window in the roof right over the bed so you can star gaze! There is no light pollution down our lane so you will be spoilt for starry choices, (there is a blind to pull if you don’t want to be up at sunrise).

We made the decision not to put a television in the Shepherd Hut so that our guests can totally switch off and really appreciate the peace and quiet. However there is BT Ultra Fast wifi so you can work or watch on your own devices.

You may be lucky enough to hear owls and foxes at night and during the day you will see and hear our neighbour’s chickens, horses and goats.

Obviously if you want to catch up on your lap top with a film or tv programme we have free WiFi in the hut.

After your busy day exploring the area come and stay at the hut and enjoy our lovely garden.... we want you to relax and enjoy your stay.

Included is a continental breakfast which includes home baked loaf of bread (white or brown), fruit, muesli, Orange juice, milk, yoghurt, excellent selection of good quality teas and coffee. Please advise of any dietary requirement and we will do our best to accommodate you. We are happy to accommodate you.

There is a two ring induction job and a 800 power microwave. We expect guests to wash up, dry thoroughly and please put back all the pots, pans, crockery and cutlery after use. There is a washing up mat and t-towels for guests to use.

We are just south of Chichester and 2 miles from the beaches on the Manhood peninsular. The famous West Wittering beach is just down the road (booking recommended on justpark.com) and we can advise you directions to avoid the traffic! We have fabulous walks at RSPB nature reserves such as Church Norton (Selsey), Medmerry and Pagham harbour. Good wood horse race course and Goodwood Motor Circuit is also close. Plus walking on the south downs, Kingley Vale, Harting Hill, Levens Down and more.
Guest access
Parking is in our driveway, we have two dedicated Airbnb spaces as we have two listings. Please advise us if you are bringing more than one car or an oversized vehicle so we can move our own family vehicles as required.
Once parked you will walk passed our stable sheds and head up the garden path to Little Plover Shepherd Hut.
Other things to note
We have two bee hives, please keep your distance, respect the bees.
You will see and hear our neighbour's horses behind the hut and we ask that you don't make too much noise especially when you hear them walking by. Our neighbour is friendly and so usually are the horses.

Great place for a Chichester break
Lovely shepherds hut. The supplies left are great including a home baked loaf. Really cosy and comfortable and a log fire for those cosy evenings in. Could not ask for more

Perfect romantic getaway
We stayed two nights here and we wish we could have stayed longer! Elaine and Bruce are wonderful hosts - incredibly warm, welcoming, kindhearted and down-to-Earth. They were both incredibly respectful of giving us privacy during our anniversary holiday whilst also being immediately responsive and on-hand if we needed anything. The perfect balance. The accommodation is beautifully bespoke, very high spec and lovely finishes with all the mod-cons (fast wifi, great shower, fully fitted kitchen with hob, microwave, kettle, toaster). Lots of windows and natural light, beautiful view onto the neighbouring fields with horses and lots of wildlife. Patio area at the front which also felt very private complete with BBQ, fire pit, plenty of chairs and cushions etc. Unfortunately we didn’t drive (as we don’t have a car) so we missed out on some recommended walks further afield (but that’s on us!) but there is still plenty to do nearby and some lovely locations a short 20/30min walk away. If we had brought a car - then the location also would’ve had five stars! Elaine/Bruce have lots of great recommendations and are incredibly generous with their hospitality. We really wish we could’ve stayed longer… but we’ll just have to come back again in the future for another vacation!
