A wonderful holiday was had by all
We stayed in The Old Barn at Mas Mimosa for 2 weeks in early September and various members of the family joined us over the period. A wonderful time was had by every single member of the family aged from 1 to 63 and we all agreed that it was the most successful family holiday we have ever had!
Sue and Steve couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming and the love and time they have lavished on the conversion have resulted in a beautifully furnished and decorated holiday home. The Old Barn is equipped to a very high standard and everything you could need for a holiday is provided. We were blessed with good weather so spent most of our time outside and ate every meal on the terrace by the barbecue area but cooking indoors would have been no problem and the dining area is charming – although used by us as a work area as some of us were working during the holiday so the good internet access was a blessing.
The swimming pool was a resounding success and is absolutely beautiful; the best private pool I have ever seen. Large enough to swim in properly, sparklingly clean – with no chlorine – and a brilliantly designed safe, shallow area for the children. Lots of comfortable loungers and parasols meant many relaxing hours spent by the pool. The children loved the shaded swing and slide area and there were comfortable chairs and tables to sit on while they played.
The property is well located in a market garden area so felt very rural but was only a short walk from Perpignan which is a fascinating city with beautiful shops and good markets and parks. There is an excellent boulangerie 10 minutes’ walk away where we went every morning for excellent bread and croissants and there is also a small local shop there which sells most things you might need. It is only a short drive to the many beautiful beaches, and good restaurants, along the Mediterranean. We also drove up into the mountains with the many fascinating small towns and so much to see.
We hired bikes and, while the older members of the family pedalled sedately round the Perpignan area and along the beaches - with lovely wide cycle lanes, the younger ones went up the mountains and had a great time exhausting themselves.
So much to do and we simply didn’t have time to do everything we wanted - we shall definitely have to return!
Thank you, Sue and Steve, for helping us enjoy such a wonderful holiday in your beautiful home.
