The spacious cottage can sleep up to 4 people and serves as a wonderful base for exploring the local area. Complete with a large garden with patio and seating area, as well as an exclusive small wooded area, this stunning property really is a haven away from the busy world.

Up the short path through the front lawns to the front door there is a well-equipped kitchen, with a large dining table. Also on the ground floor is a spacious sitting room, perfect for relaxing, with leather sofas, a woodburner and a TV with Freeview and DVD player functions. A complimentary large bag of logs for the wood burner are provided.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one king and one twin room, and a large bathroom with a toilet, basin and bath with shower attachment.

The garden stretches all around the property, and includes a charming little wooded area, as well as a patio with garden furniture. 1 dog is welcome, however we ask that they should be kept on a lead at all times (sheep country).

In the laundry room (in one of the small stone barns) is a coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a shared freezer and a payphone. A hosepipe alongside the laundry room serves as a great addition to allow dog, boot, bike washing!

A refundable security deposit of £200 is required for this property, to cover the cost of possible damage during your stay. All things being well, this security deposit will be returned shortly after your departure providing there is no damage to the property or its contents. Two weeks prior to your arrival, you will need to contact the owners to arrange payment of the security deposit.

One well behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement. You are expected to be vigilant and keep your dog/s under close control at all times as there is likely to be livestock in the immediate vicinity. There is a forestry track leading from the garden that you can exercise your dog on for a short walk. There are lots of lovely walks a short drive from the farm where your dog can be exercised freely, including dog friendly beaches.

Wheddon Cross is just over a mile from Barn Owl Cottage, it's a village in the parish of Cutcombe on Exmoor, based around the crossroads; the roads run from north to south between Minehead and Dulverton, and east to west between Taunton and North Devon. The village is argued to be the highest on Exmoor, standing at 980 feet above sea level, and the highest point on Exmoor, Dunkery Beacon (1704 feet above sea level) is the focal point of the village. Dunkery Beacon is about three miles from the village, there are fantastic panoramic views from Dunkery; wild moorland to the west, the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north, the rolling Brendon Hills to the east and the Quarme Valley to the south.

In recent years the village has become well-known for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and a park and ride system operates from the village to enable visitors easy access to the "carpet of snowdrops".

Wheddon Cross is surrounded by beautiful countryside; open moorland, wooded valleys and farmland. An abundance of wildlife can often be seen, including Exmoor ponies and red deer. There are a number of great walks along marked footpaths and bridleways, including the famous Coleridge Way which passes through..

Wheddon Cross is a thriving community and offers many local services for a small village. The village shop is a well-stocked mini-supermarket incorporating a Post Office counter, petrol pumps, cash point machine and has good opening hours. The Rest & Be Thankful Inn is the village pub which serves food and is child and dog friendly. The village also has a first school, church, playing field, public conveniences, and a bus service.

Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 9 miles away. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town), high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
