About this property

Artist Ranchette with hot tub and outdoor space, 1 block to Bishop Arts District

We are creatives who live in our favorite Dallas Neighborhood, Oak Cliff. We own a shop, around the corner from the house, in the quaint Bishop Arts District, where we curate both our designs and those of other artisans, mostly local. We also live in the Neighborhood, so we are quick to respond and here to make suggestions where needed.

During Covid-19 we are not accepting requests for travelers who do not otherwise live under the same roof, for the safety of all our guests and ourselves.

The house is a 1500 Sq Ft Artist home, complete with all the amenities you could ask for.
The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking equipment, utensils, the basic condiments, as well as coffee, tea, sugar, etc. There is a full size fridge, Stove (gas/vintage), Very Large convection Toaster Oven (our vintage oven is tricky, so we have put in this extra full size convection oven for your use), juice press, coffee maker, french press, serving dishes, etc. We provide almost all spices, oils, and condiments you could need, and generally have an offering of over 10 hot sauces in the fridge at all times.
The bathroom boasts all the toiletries, hair dryer, flat iron, luxe towels, and 3 robes.
Our beds, a queen and full, are newer and have quilted mattress covers for added luxury. We have various types of coverings for the bed, from down comforters to quilts, and all types of pillows; so everyone should be able to sleep in their favorite selections (see the linen closet for variety).

The house has Wifi / Amazon Fire Stick (no cable tv), but you can get most things through the Fire Stick.

There is a Hot Tub, but we use this more as a Cold Tub, which means the temperature is in the 98-105 degree range (in the winter, stays at 102-106 in the Summer), great for Texas Weather! We have Special Towels for the use of the hot tub. ***We recently re-wired the hot-tub after a Neighborhood wide power surge that put it out of commission for a few guests, so if you see those notes in the review, we have fixed this issue.

People that generally like our home:
Creative types, Young (or young at heart), Urban Dwellers and lovers, Couples, and Friends.
Our home is older, it is quirky, it has great amenities with vintage furnishings and charm. We have nudity in our art, our deck is made from old pallets, our neighbors are a mix of all kinds of people, sometimes they like to play loud music, sometimes there are festivals in the neighborhood. Our guests should be laid back people that would enjoy all of these things and not be bothered.

Our home is an older home with modern amenities, a hot tub, and huge backyard with a very artsy and eclectic vibe. There is a grill, fire pit, recycled pallet deck, and a retreat style setting.
The inside of our home is a mix of vintage - industrial - artistic mid-century modern.

The house is 1/2 block from the historic Bishop Arts District, which is Dallas' hottest neighborhood with some of Dallas' best restaurants, shops, and cafes. There are scooters all over the neighborhood, which make zipping around so easy!
The Dallas Street car is just 3 blocks away and can take you downtown with ease, as well as a bus stop just 1 block away. Uber to downtown runs just $5 on regular fares.

This means our home is imperfectly perfect. Our furniture is vintage our appliances are vintage, please note that if you do not like these types of things, you may not like our home. There is exposed ship-lap, original hardwood floors, vintage furniture, a vast collection of local art, a record player with albums for you to enjoy, as well as 2 living areas, a tv (no cable, but amazon fire stick, netflix, and wifi), a fireplace, and more!

The Bishop Arts District is a great central location for almost anywhere in the city, Texas Stadium, Rangers Ballpark, Downtown, Design District, Dallas Market Center, etc. If you want to see how close we are to anywhere you may need to go, do not hesitate to reach out and ask.

DISCLAIMER: Our home is NOT CHIC, NEW, or Child Proofed in any way and some of our artwork involves nudity, we love our home and hope everyone who stays here does too. We often move things around and update art and furnishings, but do our best to keep our photos as updated as possible when we do this. We do not ever want to mis-lead our guests, so if you are someone looking for everything to be perfectly symmetrical, brand new, and sterile in design and location, please do not book our home.

PARTIES AND EVENTS: (please excuse the very frank terms below, we have had some experiences that have required us to be very up front in our posting)
Anyone who comes to our home must be listed as a guest. Any number of people over the registered amount is considered a party, even if they are not staying the night. We love a party, we don’t mind if our guests want to have a party, we just need to know about it and set up the proper pricing and terms =)
There is plenty of space and entertaining opportunities, just remember if you plan to host a private event, photo shoot, etc, this would be a special arrangement and price would be based on details and booked through an additional VRBO offer at the agreed upon rate.
This rate would not be equal to a one nights stay in our home as the basic wear and tear, use, cleaning, etc is completely different for a hosted event. Just email us the details and we will quote you the offered rate through VRBO offers. There will also be an additional security deposit, that would be done through VRBO for special events, parties, rehearsal dinners, etc.
Any party in our home (over 8 booked guests) must be booked by someone through VRBO 25 Years + and must be staying in the home. We are not willing to host parties for people under the age of 25, due to legal reasons.
Please do not be shocked that we charge for gatherings in our home, hosting 4 people is no where near hosting 25 of your friends, and it does cost us money as well. Yes, even your super awesome friends. This includes pre-parties, reunions, gatherings, bridal showers, etc.
Also, no pinatas, confetti, water balloons, or glitter will be permitted on site for any private parties or regular stays: due to previous efforts and cleaning time not working for this property. $350 clean up fines will be applied to any of these things.

If you are looking for a 5 star hotel / resort, we aren't it. If you like urban neighborhoods with older homes and eclectic mix of people and experiences, which come with quirks, some city noise, different kinds of people, development construction, public transportation, and all the charm we love about our neighborhood, then we are for you.

Great location city rental
Large old house on a corner lot, close to lots of restaurants (we got take out during COVID). Easy street parking but you can park in their back driveway as well. Quiet for being in the city. Liked all the yummy smelling products in the kitchen and bath. Shower works good for an old house. Only caveats- it's a bit dark, no good areas for sitting and reading with bright light at night. Hot tub works good but is not necessarily private from neighbors in taller apartments nearby. Would return though.

Perfect close to everything stay
This property was the perfect mix of quirky art, location and amenities. The owner clearly is en-tune with stocking the house in a livable way. Everything from the record player to quality toiletries to outdoor space was perfect. Hope to come back.
