The bedrooms include a double and and a second-floor twin, served by a bathroom. Outside there is a shared lawn with furniture, children’s play area and football nets, a shared indoor swimming pool and off-road parking for two cars. There is also a shared utility. Please note, one well-behaved dog is welcome but sorry, there is no smoking. WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price. A travel cot and highchair are also available. Town: Great Torrington is an unspoilt town built on high ground above the River Torridge, and is a fifteen minute drive from the spectacular North Devon coast at Westward Ho! With historic links to the Civil War, the “Torrington 1646” attraction at Castle Hill in the town gives an interesting insight to the Roundheads and Cavaliers. Another leading tourist attraction is Dartington Crystal where visitors can see craftsmen blowing and shaping glass, follow the history of glassmaking and buy some beautiful pieces. The town has a good selection of individual shops, a friendly atmosphere, and some good inns. About a mile from Great Torrington is the spectacular RHS Rosemoor Gardens with arboretum and herbaceous borders in a breathtaking setting by the River Torridge. There are many villages to visit on the North Devon coast including picturesque Clovelly built on a steep hillside above the sea, beautiful Appledore with it’s colourful fishermen’s cottages, famous Lynton and Lynmouth with the cliff-top railway, and Hartland Point with its breathtaking sea and coastal views. The diverse beaches of North Devon are not far away including; Westward Ho!, Instow, Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Croyde, to name a few. Lundy Island, lying just 10 miles off the coast of North Devon is home to a fascinating array of birds and seals, and can be reached on Lundy's own boat from Bideford Quay. Great Torrington is a quiet, convenient base from which to explore North Devon, the Tarka Trail and the rolling Devon landscape.
