About this property

The Old Wine Cellar - 4 bedroom property

"Please note that the ceiling height varies throughout the property due to its retained character of arched stone ceilings."The Old Wine Cellar is part of the main Farmhouse known as Amber Mill Farm and one of seven properties within Oakerthorpe Holiday Village.

Originally used as a wine cellar and meat storage as the temperature without heating stays at a constant +1 ˚c - + 2˚c.

The interior boasts of all original stone work features which are truly amazing. All rooms are below ground level however all have outside windows apart from one. The property was built circa 1790 and is a listed building with mandatory single glazing however the property is still very warm and cosy.

The property consists of a bespoke kitchen with tiled granite worktops and includes fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine with a living /dining room, 2 double bedrooms one with en-suite, twin room, single bedroom and a family bathroom and has the benefit of Freeview TV and Wi-fi.

The property has a standard occupancy of 7 however we are able to sleep 10 by adding additional put up beds in the largest bedrooms. The additional price is £40 per bed/per night.

The property boasts of underfloor heating keeping room temperature at a constant level seemingly setting it apart from the outside world in its own perfect bubble, to be noted that the ceiling height varies throughout the property and in some parts the doors are below standard height.

The property has parking directly outside and is accessed via an external stone staircase.

Oakerthorpe Holiday Village first opened in 2012 with 1 property known as Amber Lodge, proving a great success owner Vic Fell went about converting the other properties connected to Amber Mill Farm into a Holiday Village which now consists of 7 Holiday Lets ranging from 2 bedrooms to 9 bedrooms – the last property to be completed was in December 2015.Taking advantage of his farming roots and his love for animals especially the feathered variety a petting park within the walled Orchard of the farm was created with a variety of animals including pigs, geese, ducks, bantams, quails, peacocks, sheep and meerkats which is proving very popular with the younger guests especially helping Farmer Vic at feeding times and collecting the eggs from the chickens.  A large play park fully fenced off for safety, consisting of swings, slide, climbing frame and large playhouse, canoe and full sized Ferguson tractor. The park includes a picnic area to relax and observe. Adjacent to the play park is a designated BBQ area facility consisting of 5 separate BBQs and for the more sporting of our guests is a dedicated flood-lit sports area for lovers of the beautiful game – of course other ball games are available!   All in all a total Holiday Village experience has been created to make your stay here as happy and memorable as possible and with the untapped and underrated Derbyshire Countryside on the doorstep we advise you to give us a try and be among our growing legions of delighted holiday makers.
