Ski Breck, Snowshoe Hoosier Pass, Visit Alma and Fairplay, Ice Climb Mt. Lincoln Ice Fall!
Our cabin is located in a mountainous high elevation environment. Access is via winding mountain highways and well-maintained hardpacked dirt roads. At any time of year, we can experience unexpected storms and weather conditions that vary from blowing snow to hail and hard rain, with potential for high winds as well as intense sunshine. Due to the varying conditions, 4x4 or AWD vehicle with winter tires and/or tire chains/cables are necessary especially in the winter months October through May. Please refer to our cancellation policies with respect to access. There are no refunds or credits due to adverse weather or travel restrictions or delays.

The driveway is on an uphill grade from the road and is maintained and cleared from snow. There could be times of heavy snow and large accumulations such that vehicle access all the way to the cabin might be difficult. We do everything possible to make sure the driveway is clear and easily accessible, but sometimes mother nature has her way and we have to adjust to those conditions.

High Altitude: Our property is around the towns of Alma and Fairplay. Fairplay’s elevation is about 10,000 feet above sea level and Alma is at 10,361 ft.

Please be prepared for the possibility of altitude sickness if arriving from a lower elevation. Most people do not experience altitude sickness but some symptoms are headache, fatigue, and nausea. We urge you to take steps to prevent such unpleasant symptoms by staying well hydrated with clear liquids like water and electrolyte sports drinks.
Limiting strenuous activities early in your trip and limiting alcohol consumption can help. If traveling from low elevations, consider spending a day in Denver or the Front Range with an elevation of 5,000 feet for a day before heading to the mountains. In extreme cases individuals may need to return to a lower elevation until adjusted to the altitude, and can then usually return to higher elevations without issue. If you have any questions or concerns about high altitude, please reach out to us and we will be happy to help.

Beautiful Property
This is a beautiful and cozy place! It was fully stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen, and the hot tub and view were both lovely. We were also very glad we took seriously the description mentioning that 4WD/AWD is a must. Property was easy to find even when driving in in the snow because the address is marked at the top of the drive and it shows up on Google Maps. Just make sure to follow the host's instructions for the address. We had a great time and will definitely stay again.

Quick getaway
The hot tub makes the stay a ++ experience. Great place to relax and unwind. If you have kids or yourselves who can’t live without internet then you may not like it. Wifi is ok enough to check emails and get text messages. That’s about it. The place is very well kept and the property manager is very responsive. Power went out due to a car crash and he was immediately on it making potential other arrangements for us. Fortunately it was back on within 1.5 hours. We were very satisfied. Side note; be prepared for the altitude. It’s a tad brutal at the beginning.

Great mountain cabin
We stayed for a week in July. The cabin was better than anticipated. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting out on the wraparound porch taking in the view. We found limited cell service there and the WiFi is limited and really only decent for email but that was fine as the trip was to disconnect. The location is high in elevation so it may take a day or two to become acclimated especially if you are coming from close to sea level. We loved the cabin and its location - it was just what we were looking for on this trip!

Great getaway!
We do about 5-6 house rentals a year throughout Colorado and this was one of our favorites. It was definitely one of the cleanest rentals we've ever had which is a huge plus. On top of that the secluded and scenic location made for a quiet and peaceful weekend. Well stocked and comfortable beds and a nice homey feel. We saw a deer outside the kitchen window every morning. If you can't live without TV or streaming then this is not the place for you. It's the perfect place to disconnect and unwind.

Best rental house that I've experienced
I stayed in quite a few rental houses on vacations. This was exceptional. Very comfy, well stocked and clean. Nestled in a pinewoods forest. Had lots of visits from birds. Close to Alma state preserve (less than a mile), for hiking and more bird watching. Location is really out of the way, so quite a drive to get supplies, but that made for nice excursions. Extremely peaceful.
