About this property

Retreat to Rise and Shine! Pool, Hot Tub, Walk to Drake's Beach! Game Room!

Bathed in sunlight all day long, Rise and Shine is the perfect spot for families and friends to gather and LOVE the Russian River! With so much to do, you won't want to sleep in - but you have our permission to close the curtains too. The pool and hot tub in the backyard are just part of the multiple levels of decks, patios and yard - all fenced for your safety. Challenge your traveling companions to a game of badminton in the backyard or pool, foosball, and ping-pong in the downstairs recreation room! There's plenty of room to spread out or come together for fabulous meals inside and out. Speaking of cooking, the kitchen was recently updated and is well-stocked - including a coffee and tea station to jump-start the morning!

You won't lack for entertainment and technology either! There are 4 flat screen TVs throughout the house. The master bedroom and living room TVs are equipped with Hulu, HBO, Netflix, Amazon FireStick and surround sound. The rec room TV has cable and DVD/VHS players. And there's a record player (with a selection of vinyl records) as well as iPod mini speakers.

This sleepy residential neighborhood offers an easy walk to the beach with the provided kayaks (seasonal) and relaxed walks with the dog and family. Rinse off at the outdoor shower when you return from the river. Or head into town, the coast or wineries. It's all just minutes away when you stay at Rise and Shine.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours:
The maximum occupancy is 8 people. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking:
There is parking for 3 to 4 cars - 1 to 2 in the garage and 2 more in the driveway. Street parking is scarce. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes:
First bedroom with en-suite bathroom: Queen bed; Second bedroom: Queen bed; Third bedroom: 2 twin beds together as a King bed; Living Room: Queen sleeper sofa.

Pool Heater:
The pool is kept in swimmable condition year-round, but is heated from late May to mid-September, only. When heated, the temperature is typically between 75 and 80 degrees. The pool has a solar heater, so the heating depends on the abundance of sunshine and weather in the area.

Heat Source:
This house uses a Nest thermostat for the central heating system. The rec room is not heated.

A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the night time temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house.

Stairs:
There are three sets of stairs to the house: one set from the parking area to the front door - outside; from the back deck to the lower level deck and yard - outside; from the main living area to the downstairs rec room and garage - inside. Each set is approximately one story of stairs.

Work from HERE: Rise & Shine boasts a large workspace in a bedroom and an extra table/desk space in the living room.
Advertised Wifi Speed: 400 mbps

Fencing and Pool Safety:
The backyard is fully fenced and there are gates at the top of the stairs from the upper deck to the lower deck where the hot tub and pool are located. For safety, there are locking pool gates with alarms. Please review the in-home information for locking and alarming instructions.

Noise Sensor and Doorbell Camera:
We use a device called NoiseAware to monitor the volume (not content) of activity in the back yard. There is a doorbell camera at the front door.

Docks & Boats: Docks and beaches are seasonal only and available from mid-June to mid-September providing the summer dams are in. Canoes, kayaks, paddleboats and rowboats that are provided in some of our homes are also available from mid-June to mid-September only. The river is usually too swift for boating in the winter and many docks and beaches are under water until late spring.

Proximity to Wineries:
Korbel Winery is the closest winery at 4.8 miles, but there are two tasting rooms in downtown Guerneville 2 miles from the house.

Nearest River Beach:
The nearest river access is .2 mile - the beach varies seasonally.

Nearest Ocean Beach:
The coastal beaches in Jenner are approx. 15 miles.

Family Vacation
Rise & Shine is one of the nicest properties we have ever stayed at. The interior is very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. If I had to come up with a negative it would have to be that the games were missing pieces or the pieces were in another game. Other than that we very much enjoyed our stay. The neighborhood beach was wonderful and the people we met there were so nice. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect getaway for family and dog
We couldn't have been more pleased with Rise and Shine! We enjoyed hanging out in the great room and eating meals on the deck overlooking the pool/hot tub. Played many games of ping pong in the blessedly cool basement and badminton as well. The private beach at the river was a ten minute walk away, a joy for our dog. Thanks and hope to come again!

Good Getaway
We rented this place for a getaway with grandparents visiting from out of state. Our kids 2 & 6 loved the property and we had plenty of room. The kitchen is well stocked with many appliances that don’t come standard with a rental (although we couldn’t find a pizza cutter). There were kid dishes as well. There was a pack and play and high chair that were unexpected but useful. We thought that April might be warm enough to use the pool, but it wasn’t. The game room downstairs also is not temp controlled, but we just bundled up and turned on the space heater when we wanted to play pool in the evening. There is private river access a short walk away and we saw an otter on our first day. Overall, a good place to relax.

Not as advertised
The house and amenities are NOT as advertised. Photos on website are out of date/not accurate. The house was not clean even though cleaning people were still in the house after checkin. We told them they could finish cleaning. But, some of the dirt and grime has clearly been in the house for years. The kitchen drawers and cabinets were sticky to touch. Furniture in the game room was old and stained - not been cleaned in any way for a very long time. The owners must have just moved the old discarded furniture from the house downstairs when it was no longer fit for use in the living room. The window screen in the master bedroom was torn so mosquitoes and insects could come inside. The outdoor deck is even worse than the house. Boards are warped with nails sticking up from them. Pool was dirty upon arrival and there was not even a net to clean out the debris. Management said the next day was pool cleaning day. We never saw or heard anybody cleaning the pool. The pool is definitely not heated with no sign of solar heating. The photos show the pool in different condition than now. The pool had uneven bottom – in places the pool bottom would dip by as much as a foot. The trim of the pool was a fake board pretending to be tile. The whole pool was edged with some type of brick/stone that was not evenly placed and that had nails sticking out as well. The deck area had not been cleaned anytime recently. The furniture was covered in debris and leaves and a layer of dirt. When we moved one of the chairs we found somebody else’s trash underneath (used paper towel or some kind of wrapper). Russian River Vacation Homes was the management company for the property and they did a poor job. They lied about having been at the house working on the Wi-fi which had been out when we arrived. We were there when they claimed they were just there. They gave us misinformation before booking about the use of kayaks during our stay (they tried to refuse but we sent them the emails which confirmed they had said boats would be available for us) then they made an effort to help. There was no beach gear like the website claimed - no cooler or even beach chairs. Neighborhood beach was barely usable because the residents permanently set up their tents and chairs and kayaks to “reserve” their space leaving little room on the small beach for visitors. This may be our worst VRBO stay and we will not trust Russian River Vacation Homes again. Be careful of scam.

We are Russian River Vacation Homes, a part of D&G Equity Management, Inc., a family owned and locally owned/operated property management company.

Our Story:
In 1980, D&G founders and owners Michael and Patty saw a need in the area for habitable, affordable housing. At that time, many of the little cabins along the Russian River, originally built as summer cabins, were unsuitable for year-round occupancy. D&G assisted property owners with fixing up and renting their cabins. As the largest property management company in western Sonoma County, D&G Equity Management continues to be a staple in the Russian River community.

Russian River Vacation Homes is an off-shoot of D&G. One fine day in 1985, Michael's client, Bob, asked "Hey Mike, can you rent my cabin out just for the week or weekend instead of by the month?" Michael said "Sure!" and Russian River Vacation Homes was born. As renting vacation rentals became more popular, Russian River Vacation Homes grew into a full-time business with its own office. Today, Russian River Vacation Homes professionally manages over 60 high-quality vacation rentals.

We strive to make each and every stay the best one ever. If you have any questions or concerns about reserving or staying with us, please don't hesitate to contact us! We are here to help.
