Vacation in Paradise. If you love the outdoors this is the place for you. The property is located in Cala de Hucares at the foot of the Caribbean Rain Forest ( El Yunque). This beautiful penthouse unit has 3 spacious bedrooms. Our third floor unit ( walk up) has a balcony with a terrace above that has a great view of the Caribbean. The complex is beachfront, has outdoor pool, tennis court, basketball court, playground and has 24 hour security. It is in a quaint fishing village of Playa Hucares which is in the town of Naguabo and has local restaurants that serve fresh seafood and local cuisine. It feels like paradise with the conveniences of home. Go fishing, golfing, swimming, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking, or take a ferry from Fajardo (10-15 minute drive) to one of two islands (Vieques, Culebra) and spend the day snorkeling, scuba diving or sunbathing. Visit the nearby casino or shop in the nearby malls, or just catch a movie. Don't forget to spend the day sightseeing or shopping in San Juan.

If you like nature trails spend the day hiking the rain forest (El Yunque). You will find water falls with swimming holes to refresh yourself.
There is a natural bio-tour reserve a few minutes south where you can kayak in brackish creeks which lead to the ocean. There you'll find many types of birds and iguanas in this Humacao Wildlife Refuge and don't forget to visit the Ceiba Forest which is just a few minutes north and see the mangroves and manatees.

Small town setting

Loved the security of this gated home, we were less than a mile from lots of restaurants and bars, definitely try Kalizo Puerto Rico cuisine. Pool and private beach were definitely a perk. Would stay again for sure.

Kasa de Kaye beautiful/relaxing place

Kasa de Kay offered a distinctive experience, providing all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. Located on the beachfront of Naguabo, Puerto Rico, it features a pool, tennis court, basketball hoop, and more. Its strategic proximity to El Malecon, El Yunque, and the beautiful east coast beaches of PR makes it an optimal choice. The property is located in a cute little town with access to restaurants and ocean views within a 1 min drive. It included all amenities, plus extra. Other than the condo being a little old, it met and exceeded all of our needs for the price.

Wonderful Time in Hucares

We had a great time staying at Cala de Hucares. Walk on the beach, swim in the pool, or choose from the twenty or so bars and restaurants that line the ocean, minutes away.

Perfect family vacation

We really enjoyed our stay. Place had everything we needed. The hosts were wonderful answering all our questions and were spot on for recommendations of where to eat! We would def stay there again!!! Our only issue was the pool, you can only reserve for an hour a day. If nobody reserved, then you can stay longer. When there was an issue, we went to the beautiful private beach on the property.

This was a great landing spot for our family. We loved having access to a small quiet beach and pool. And the location served us well for adventures to nearby beaches, el yunque, great local restaurants with fresh fish, vieques ferry, etc. the condo was well equipped and we appreciated having a balcony, an equipped kitchen, a w/d, and plenty of sleeping space for our family! Also so great to have beach chairs and towels.

Great Place

The property is well kept and spacious. At first we thought the configuration of the A/C units and fans was a little off, but after seeing how A/C is generally done across the island, we realized that it is up to par. I don't mean this as a bad thing; but just as a note to folks coming from the mainland that "island style" is a thing and you need to be open minded. The bedrooms were cold enough to be comfortable, but if the doors were all kept cold, the rest of the apartment could get a bit warm. Again, not uncomfortable, just different if you are expecting central air. The third floor location wasn't a problem, and the addition of the roof access was awesome. A great place to relax after a day of exploring or to watch the weather roll in over the ocean. The only downside to the location was the proximity to the road; traffic starts early and some of the trucks were pretty loud. If you are an early-riser or heavy sleeper, you won't mind much at all. As for the owners, Glenn and Dahlia were great. They reached out to us several times before our trip and had lots of excellent suggestions on activities, restaurants, and points of interest around the apartment. They were also extremely helpful in allowing us to extend our rental due to an unforeseen illness. I highly recommend renting from them.

Wonderful Time

The unit is nice and clean, perfect place to spend with family and friends. Food in the area is delicious, eat at el malecón and the local bakery. The unit owner are very nice and caring people.

Pros and Cons.... PLEASE READ!

We stayed here in cala de hucares on may 2021. Pros: -check in very easy - property maganer always a quick call or text away -Pool always clean and available -A/C rooms awesome always work very well -Yes is fully furnished no need to get anything just your groceries to cook if that's what you plan on doing. - it also has grills and things for the beach and pool wich is nice. Cons: -Apartment was dusty when we check in, like if not been clean for weeks. -left over stuff of pantry food in the small pantry, but they looked like they where outdated and never been threwn out. -I know P.R. is hot, but the livingroom, kitchen and dining area are an inferno of heat after 12 and on, there is no A/C in that area of the apartment. - We expirienced a power outage after our 1st week there and the manager was not able to find us a place to spend the night with 5 childrens, thank the Lord we had family and they help us stay with them for that night. Plus after we pass by the property that same night the security guard told us that is nothing new on Cala de hucares apartments that always happens once a month, so that for me is no good, for that reason we not going back. After all, the area is not bad, yes it's loud is not a quiet street so if you want something quite this is not for you, at night is loud and in the mornings the neighbors across street are always talking loud. Hopefuly all this helps you on your desition.

Apart from the stained sheets, no toilet paper, lightbulbs burned out, ants everywhere, and un clean faucets and bathrooms, our stay was OK. But Puerto Rico is amazing! It would be nice if there was a property management person on site to talk to and not in the states.

The views from the terrace are beautiful. The unit is on the 3rd floor with no elevator. The beach and pool are a short distance walk from the unit. The area is gated and we felt very safe. The residents like to play music very loud in the cars which can be heard at night but it’s not very often.

Heaven on earth

Felt at home. Unit has ample space. The views were amazing to the ocean right from patio. The pool was wonderful Since I traveled with my girls being a single mom in the gated community definitely made me sleep great st night The town down the road was so much fun. A car is definitely needed if you want to explore PR bit of your looking to disconnect from the world then you chose the right place

Great owners - older condo that is roomy but the condo is more roadside than beachfront

I give it a 3 because the owner, Glenn was so kind and spend a lot of time on the phone providing details of activities to do in PR (e.g., El Yunque rainforest, Luquilla Beach, Camuy Cavernas) to make our stay enjoyable. The condo is older, but we had plenty of space, clean on arrival, walkable to the local town, and had all the towels (bath and beach)/beach equipment we needed. We were expecting a family vacation in Puerto Rico away from the city noise. However, the condo is located right on a major road (and next to the security entrance - which is where some cars turn around) - which meant traffic noise and even louder music from the cars that kept us up throughout the night every night! I am a very heavy sleeper, but woke up every hour on the hour nearly every night. Although we did not get a lot of sleep, this served as a nice home base for all of our adventures in beautiful Puerto Rico!

Beautiful setting with all the comforts of home!

When we rented this property, we weren't looking for a vacation destination. We needed to be in Puerto Rico for two weeks to help a relative who is seriously ill, and we needed affordable accommodations for our family of five. But two weeks at Cala de Hucares was like an escape to an tropical paradise and we'd give it 6 or 7 stars if we could! Since we went off season during the middle two weeks of September, we had the entire building to ourselves. The rest of the complex was sparsely occupied and we only saw one other family on the private beach on one of the days we were there, not counting the crane that would visit and stroll down the shoreline from time to time. Although far from pristine (Puerto Rican beaches are not swept free of litter and maintained as are beaches in the US), the warm water and swaying palms more than made up for the debris on the ground, and I also harvested quite a treasure trove of sea glass during our stay. Our kids loved both the pool downstairs and going out to the balcony to take in the gorgeous view. The washer and dryer, satellite TV, Wi-Fi and well-stocked kitchen were lifesavers, and we found all of the dishes and cookware we could ever need. The clean, well-furnished apartment doesn't have central air, but the individual units in the bedrooms were more than adequate for cooling. They also were a good source of white noise to drown out the sounds of booming stereos and traffic passing by outside the complex at night. (Loud music is a cultural norm and is heard pretty much everywhere on the island.) Playa Santiago is a popular hangout for the locals with authentic atmosphere and cuisine. And the fact that Humacao is only 10 miles away and has a plaza that includes Wal-Mart, Radio Shack and a grocery store was a huge convenience. We would enthusiastically recommend this property to everyone. The Kayes are gracious and responsive hosts and went above and beyond to make our trip comfortable and affordable. Staying in this picturesque location made a potentially taxing situation much less stressful, and we plan to reach out to them again the next time that family responsibilities bring us the island. We didn't go to Naguabo expecting to be on vacation, but thanks to Glenn and Dalia, we felt like we were!

Great location, comfortable, great price

Our 7 night stay was wonderful. Naguabo is a great location - it's a small town in a location convenient to El Yunque, Luquillo and not too far from the airport and San Juan. The condo was very comfortable and met all of our needs. The kitchen had everything - even a blender for some mango smoothies. The pool was an added bonus. We felt perfectly safe and secure. The small private beach on the property is beautiful. From there, you can see Cayo Santiago - a small island also nicknamed "Monkey Island". Less than 1 mile away, from the Naguabo Pier (Malecón de Naguabo), we chartered a small boat and were able to take a day trip to this island to see it up close and do some snorkeling. Paco was our captain and made the trip a blast - http://lapaseodora.yolasite.com/ Luquillo and Farjardo have some beautiful beaches that are very close. El Yunque is close as well and a great place to explore if you like to hike. The condo is in a perfect location from where you can explore and find and do just about anything that Puerto Rico has to offer. Glenn and Dalia were great hosts and were a great resource for ideas and suggestions to make our stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. Our only complaint is that we wished we could have stayed longer. When we return, this place will be at the top of our list.
