About this property

A sweet tiny house in a great location, with bikes and other amenities.

Our tiny home tries really hard to be as wonderful as the cedar tree it sits next to. It even dressed itself in fancy cedar siding and lathered itself with tung oil. And although its efforts may have failed (it s hard to top mother nature), a definite theme has been born. Runner-up names included Hail Cedar! and 20,000 Leagues Beneath the Cedar.

Amenities:
- Comfy queen in loft & West Elm futon in living area
- Fans and white noise in the loft
- AC & heat that work wonderfully
- Full kitche and bath
- Two cruiser bicycles
- Two beach chairs, Turkish beach towels, bag, small cooler
- Hammock
- Outdoor patio with two cushioned couches
- Unique board games designed for two-person play
- Full length mirror
- Alexa-enabled bluetooth speaker
- Small book collection

The bicycles are especially great, because there are a few restaurants and a music venue within a leisurely five minute ride. More on that later. Now, onto the house:

It s tiny! But it doesn t feel that way. The light color of the bamboo flooring, the many windows and the high ceilings help to open it up. The loft holds a queen-sized mattress, which sits low to the floor on tatami mats. There is a full bath with a rain-down shower, air vent, and cloth curtain door. There is a fully functional kitchen, with gas stove and microwave. There is a desk/table and a very comfy futon couch that opens to sleep an (additional) adult or two children (who are very welcome). The futon, when pulled out, measures 82” x 45.”

Amenities for daily living abound: fast wi-fi; soaps, towels & bed linens; cookware; electrical kettle; coffee maker and french press; a selection of teas, Trader Joe's dark roast coffee; wine glasses and a wine opener, champagne glasses, pepper grinder, kosher salt, olive oil, honey, etc. If you are in need of anything, just ask!

The house sits on the front left corner of our property and is surrounded on three sides by a privacy fence. The front faces the driveway, which is where you'll pull up and park (left side). In effect, because of the tall fence, guests have an entire property with yard and driveway to themselves. Easy, keyless entry and a flood light that comes on if you arrive at night.

Great!
This was my first “tiny house” stay and I loved it. Great location and very clean. Was in town for the bridge run so I didn’t get to spend a lot of time at the house but it was close to everything you’d want to do. I also really appreciated the amount of work the host put into giving recommendations and making sure their guest could make the most of their trip. Highly recommend.

Comfy tiny house, perfectly located
We loved staying here! It was quick and easy to get everywhere we wanted. The neighborhood itself was lovely. When we took the bikes out for a ride, everyone was so friendly! The house was extremely clean and had everything we needed for our three night stay. As two young traveling women, we felt safe and comfortable. The host was also very helpful :)

Solo trip
The tiny house was just perfect for my solo trip. It had everything I needed in a small footprint. Brian left uncomplicated instructions to best utilize the space and some great recommendations for visiting the area. I went to Bowens Island Restaurant, Crust Wood Fired Pizza, Fort Sumter, Cypress Gardens, the Charleston Museum, the Joesph Manigault house, the Heyward Washington house, an eight house tour centered on Charlotte Street and a basket making course through the Historic Charleston Historical Foundation. I had my first ever oyster at The Quinte Oyster Bar with great instructions and enthusiastic encouragement of the staff and the couple seated next to me. One sunny morning I went to the beach on Sullivan's Island. On the way to and from these activities I hunted for vintage items at as many local antique markets as I could fit in. With so much to do in the area I was only at the tiny house in the evenings, but it felt like home when I got there. The neighbourhood is quiet and friendly, I slept well every night I was there. Thank you Brian for providing a great little place to stay in Charleston.

About the host

Host profile image
Daddy/daughter team here. Scrupulous, detail-oriented hosts laser-focused on our guests' experience -- both at the house and around Charleston.

Why they chose this property

This tiny house is in the coveted Riverland Terrace neighborhood of James Island -- a great leaping off spot for downtown (four miles), Folly Beach (nine miles), and Johns Island (just across the bridge). The neighborhood itself is super cute, with a community garden, boat landing, quirky bungalow houses, and live oaks trees draped in Spanish moss. Use the provided bicycles to get to the adjacent plaza, which has awesome restaurant/bars, a yoga studio, independent movie theatre, and more.

What makes this property unique

It's a tiny house that doesn't feel tiny, loaded with amenities and comforts, super cute, in a fantastic location, and with great hosts to boot!
