"Great Are The Simple Things In Life" No Doubt you will experience this in our Brand New Cabin. You'll find that "Rooks Nook" features many personal touches, from the high-end antique distressed cabinets and furniture. "Rooks Nook" is a spacious 1500 sq. ft. log cabin, where the exposed beams and rustic wavy board siding were cut from pine trees cleared from the lot. The wrap around porch is inviting, with two wooden log swings and rocking chairs, with a black distressed finish. Also features a hot tub deck.
Two Bedroom Master upstairs with King Bed, Bathroom upstairs with tile shower, and Heart Shaped Jacuzzi tub. Pool table on Balcony.
Bedroom down stairs has a queen Bed, Bathroom across the hall downstairs with 5' tub shower. Sleeper sofa in Living room.

Located just minutes from Desoto State Park, Desoto Falls, Cloudmont Ski & Golf Resort, and Mentone, where you can enjoy shopping in many of the antique shops, also offering a variety of foods.

The longest yard sale stay

This is a private area, cabin is at the end of the lane. Very peaceful, the wrap around porches are wonderful for mornings with coffee. Very comfortable.

Mountain Gem!

The photos do not do this place justice! Gorgeous, clean, secluded. We LOVED it! The ONLY downside was theres no cell signal. But they have wifi and unlimited long distance on a house line to compensate. Most places are bare bones, cheaper furnite. Not this place. There's sturdy built-ins and the place is solid. They have every amenity you could need although we brought everything we needed. 10/10 would recommend. Just be ready to drive a windy, mountain road but that's going to be any cabin in that area. Phenomenal!

BEST PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED!!!!

I have been doping some traveling in the last few years. Stayed in many cabins and hotels in the southeast This is hands down the most relaxing, well-stocked with utensils and drinkware, and immaculately clean place we have stayed. Host were the best at communicating. Not that was anything other than me locking my phone in the cabin when leaving. She was so gracious in helping me retrieve it. I usually don't go near the hot tub, BUT this was exceptionally clean and inviting!! Convenient to stores and restaurants bit not too close. Will definitely be coming back!!! Can not say enough about how we loved this cabin!!!!!!

Great Private Getaway

The property was just as it was described and was exactly what we wanted. The check-in process was easy and communication was excellent. The Rooks were available if we needed them and left multple ways to reach them. If you need a nice little place for a getaway, we recommend this little Nook! It's really close to Desoto Falls and the Salllie Howard Memorial Baptist Church. These are 2 landmarks we also recommend you visiting while here. Thank you, Kevin & Cynthia!

Great cabin in the woods!

Love the cabin! So many unique, personal touches. Open and spacious, everything we needed. I love that local trees were used to build it. Hosts were very responsive in answering questions, even had the cabin ready for us a bit early. Check in/check out were easy as can be!

Honeymoon!

What a gem, from the location to the comfortable bed! We so enjoyed our honeymoon stay. The cabin had everything you could possibly imagine. The owners were great at communicating, when needed. Sitting on the porch was heavenly, especially while watching the squirrels, birds and deer. Close to everything! We look forward to staying again.

Anniv trip

This is our second stay at Rooks Nook. As expected, it was absolutely amazing. Cynthia went above and beyond to make the stay wonderful. Everywhere you turn there are bath and body lotions, sprays, soaps and even fuzzy socks for you. We spent lots of time in the hot tub and hours on end playing pool. A much needed get away from life just to reconnect and spend time together without life's interruptions. Thank you for an amazing time!

Your host

Hello: We are Kevin & Cynthia Rooks. Kevin grew up in this area, Lived in Tennessee for 15 yrs then returned to this area. Cynthia was born in upstate New York, the family moved to West Alabama when she was 9 yrs old because her mother hated the cold. We meet in 1989 and were married in 1990. We,ve been self employed all those years, and have been able to work together,in the Custom Cabinet industry, we enjoy being able assist our customers in design and color selection of their custom cabinets.

Why they chose this property

We chose to build in Mentone, because for one, we LOVE the Mountains and always vacationed in the mountains, in East Tennessee or out West. Mentone is very beautiful all seasons and has so much to offer, for that that quite get-away, so I coined the phrase "GREAT ARE THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE". And I really beleive that the simple things in life are the most enjoyable. I,ve always wanted to build my own cabin since I've been in the construction industry, this helped me to design and built the cabin, and with Cynthia's input on the color skeam it was a very enjoyable project, in which we put many personal touches for your enjoyment.

What makes this property unique

There are many things we enjoy about our cabin Rooks Nook most in the decor. Take notice of the Exposed Beams which were Sawn from Pine Trees cut off the lot itself, these were sawn by a local Saw Man which brought his Portable Saw mill onto the lot and sawed the Beams on site. The Log walls came from North Carolina (not a kit) Each room has a Beadboard plank wainscoat which has a painted distressed finish, the Balcony Railings are Black Rubbed Distressed finish, the Kitchen is a Pine Cabinet with a Green distressed finish, and Red Knobs. All the furniture pieces were custom designed & built by our shop. There is a Pool table on the Balcony, Tile shower & Heart Shaped Jacuzzi in the Master Bath. Hot Tub & Rockers & Swings on the wrap around porch, Just relax and enjoy your self. We hope you get as much enjoyment from your stay as we do. And remember "GREAT ARE THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE"
