About this property

Rustic River Cabin under the Oaks and just a short walk to the river.

Come enjoy the peace and quiet of the Texas Hill Country, while relaxing in the cool waters of the Dry Frio River. This cabin is nestled under a canopy of live oak trees and just a short walk to the river. The Dry Frio River gets its name from the fact that the spring fed river meanders under the rocks at times, giving the appearance of a dry creek bed. This means the water is always cold, even in the hot summer months!
The air conditioned cabin has a simple, rustic feeling. The family room has high ceilings with comfy leather sofa and loveseat. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, and plenty of cookware. The cozy master bedroom has a stone fireplace and a queen-size bed, with room for a portable crib if needed. The spacious bathroom has a lovely clawfoot bathtub/shower. There is loft area with two full-size beds and a beautiful view of the huge live oak trees.
Outside there is ample seating on the covered porch and around the fire-pit. A charcoal grill is available for those outdoor cook-outs. Just down the road, a short walk, is a community park area with a covered pavilion and outdoor activities. Wi-Fi is also available at the park area.
This is a great place for star gazing, hiking, fishing, swimming, nature watching, unwinding and making memories.

***This is the Texas Hill Country, complete with all the critters, big and small. Please bring appropriate protection, (bug spray, water shoes, hats, sunscreen, etc) to ensure you have a safe trip. Remember to respect the land, water, animals, and the people who reside here, but most of all enjoy the simple peace and quiet it has to offer.

Spring break
Had a lovely get away, it is important to know that this cabin has no cell service or WiFi at the cabin. This is important information to know ahead of time if you have chronically ill family you need to be available for.

Our family has been making the trip from Houston for 50+ years. My father and his brother since the 40's. It is a hike, but once you are here and can turn everything else off, it is the best therapy available.

Why they chose this property

It is a small, usually quiet community. I like the fact that I can come here and feel like I am the only one out here!

What makes this property unique

My cabin is situated under a canopy of oak trees which makes it quite cool, even in the hot summer months. There is a trail down a small slope that leads to the river. There are NO homes in between the cabin and the river. The deer make their appearance most every night as they come out of the fields down to the river. Shake a little deer corn for them and they practically come running!
