Escape to hidden jewel: recommended
We spent an amazing 8 days in Turks & Caicos and much of it was due to a great stay at the Hidden Jewel. The house was a perfect fit for our four families with a total of 16 people. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms; the kitchen was spacious, as was the foyer which was right by the laundry machine. The only three downsides for the indoor space was: 1) the top bunk for both bunk beds were not useable because of how close the ceiling or slanted roof was, but we could pull the mattress down to the floor; 2) for a house this big, the living/sitting room was too small to seat everyone, but since the kitchen -dining room-living/sitting room had a good flow, it still worked; 3) the laundry machine is loud so whoever stayed in the room next door had to get used to that sound. The gated driveway had ample space for our multiple cars. The backyard is truly the gem to this house - it has everything! Multiple hammocks, an outdoor platform day bed, fire pit, pool lounges, as well as lounges on the dock. The swimming pool was the perfect size, and incredibly safe for our little kids since all edges were shallow, and it only got slightly deep in the center of the pool. The ocean by the dock turned into a small beach during low tide which was an absolutely game changer. It allowed us to have a private beach and go from ocean to pool without needing to commute. We went snorkeling and jet skiing. We also took advantage of the kayaks and paddle boards at the house to go to

Exceeded Expectations!
The owner was very responsive and helpful with booking our trip and making recommendations. The property manager met us on arrival and showed us the property and introduced us to Kevin the caretaker. Both super sweet people Upon arrival the home is of course stunning and in prestige condition. Nearly every thing is brand new and in perfect shape Clean is an understatement it was immaculate. The views and grounds are spectacular photos don’t do it justice. Each room is spacious and cozy all with a view and off the main two story foyer. Breeze at night was lovely and the brand new windows and screens allowed the ocean air to blow thought the house. We elected to turn off the ac which was cold enough the first night to freeze us out. The housekeepers came and tided up while we there although was only 5 days. Shopping was close and the kitchen was stocked with everything we need to cook with and enjoy meals with the family. So many places to take in the views right on the property I made it a point to move around to all the chairs and couches. Our adult kids loved the place and had plenty to do, Kevin arranged for jet skis to be delivered and we snorkeled a nearby island reef. Fishing another day also arranged by Kevin, so sweet do him to be available to make some runs to stores for some things we ran out of. Over all probably one of the nicest places I’ve stayed. And we do travel a lot and our standards are high, this place rocks !

Great House Manager (Kevin) and Great Views but TLC Deparately Needed
First and foremost, we couldn't have been happier with our House Manager Kevin. He was kind and generous and really put a sparkle for all three of our families. Communicating with him via text was simple and Kevin was very responsive. It looks like our stay was the last one that will come with the house manager AND / OR van. The house will still be nice I suppose but future visitors will definitely need a rental car / van because every dinner was a 30-40 minute drive from Chalk Sound, where the house is located. The house itself has beautiful views and the dock / small beach was great for adults and kids. Depending on the tide, the beach appears or disappears, but it was great having it. The house disappointed a bit because it seems like a few trips to the hardware store and some elbow grease could really make it so much better. For example, the house relies on screens on doors and windows, but the saltwater apparently has eaten through the screens, and so the mosquitoes were terrible -- even in the bedrooms! Also, by the pool, one of the sconces mounted to a stone column suffered salt air corrosion and so the scone was hanging on by just the electrical wires. That seems like a relatively quick fix, with a new electrical box popped in. Other things that could have been better with the house aside from the screens and hanging sconce was the pool. Some of the colorful ceramic tile at the pool steps and pool bottom were cracked and so was a razor sharp hazard for the kids. We still used the pool but it was touch and go for sure. This last one didn't bother me too much, but towards the end of our stay my wife reported seeing mouse droppings two nights in a row upstairs. We let our house manager Kevin know and he immediately called a pest control company. The last day as our friends and I were tidying up to get ready to leave the house, one of the wives screamed because she found a softball-sized mouse (rat?) that had been caught in the kitchen cabinet under the sink. Like I said the mouse didn't bother me too much as I'm not surprised that mice / rats live on the island and can invade these relatively open homes. However, it did bother the other families and a few of them said that they would not have slept in the house if we had further nights for our visit. The other families in our travel group may have different feelings but I would stay at the Hidden Jewel again if the screens were fixed to keep mosquitoes out.
