-Activities In the Tongariro National Park
Mountain View is situated on the southern border of the Tongariro National Park. It is the oldest national park in New Zealand, located in the central North Island. It has been acknowledged by UNESCO as one of the 25 mixed cultural and natural World Heritage Sites.
-Hiking in Tongariro National Park
In September 1887 the sacred mountain peaks, Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro were gifted to the people of New Zealand by the Paramount Chief of Ngati Tuwharetoa, Horonuku Te Heu Heu Tukino, thus ensuring their protection for all people for all time. This gift formed the nucleus of Tongariro National Park, New Zealand's First National Park and a dual World Heritage Area.

Ohakune is the closest town in the north island to the ski fields, just 20 mins from the Turoa car park. Mt Ruapehu has the largest ski fields in the country in both vertical rise and ski able terrain.
-Mountain Climbing
Ruapehu is one of the world's most active volcanoes, and the largest volcano in New Zealand. It is the highest point in the North Island and includes three major peaks: Tahurangi (2,797 m), Te Heuheu (2,755 m) and Paretetaitonga (2,751 m). All of these peaks can be conquered and vary in difficulty.
-Rafting/Canoeing
The Tongariro river has excellent white water rafting. The rapids are Grade three, meaning they are difficult enough give you a challenge and adrenaline rush, but also safe enough to bring most of the family.
