About this property

Our cozy, country, chic apartment is the perfect getaway for two! This private space offers everything you need! If you're coming enjoy upstate New York’s gorgeous Finger Lakes, this is the place for you! We’re about 30-40 minutes from everywhere....the bustling college town of Ithaca and Cornell University, as well as NASCAR in Watkins Glen, wineries, and state parks. But, if a quiet, secluded stay is what you’re after, step out onto the private deck and enjoy a cozy fire while the sun sets!

Neighborhood description
We love the location close to nature and on a dead end road. We live just on the outskirts of the village of Van Etten, but 20-30 minutes from Ithaca State Parks, Watkins Glen and 40 minutes from Seneca and Cayuga Lake wineries. The view from our house is incredible and is amazing anytime of the year!

We highly recommend good snow tires and/or 4 wheel drive during the winter months.

Getting around
Ithaca, Elmira, Vestal, Owego, Corning, and Watkins Glen are all within a 40 minute (or less) drive.

*There is only a 20 gallon hot water tank. (shorter showers)
*WiFi is not always stable due to the rural nature of our community

Nicer than home

Lovely property, central to all the amenities of the Ithaca area. The porch affords a very peaceful morning coffee and evening wine watching the sunset. Hosts have thought of everything to make this a home away from home. Nothing is lacking, and yet they are very accessible to provide anything that you feel may be. The finger lakes are very chill, relaxing, and this property embodies that feeling as well. No complaints, only praise.

Amazing Stay and Perfect for a Quick Getaway

My partner and I stayed here for three nights and it was perfect, absolutely no suggestions. The hosts were very welcoming with great communication. The property was on their personal property but the location and orientation of the place made it seem still private. We cooked breakfast every morning in and the kitchen was well stocked and organized. We would highly recommend staying at this location

Wonderful as always

This is the third time we have stayed here and we just love it each time! Fred and Alicia are such great and friendly hosts. They think of everything including fresh eggs in the refrigerator from their chickens. The place has a lovely view and is close to many activities in Ithaca and other surrounding areas. We will definitely be back again!

The owner greeted us on arrival. Was very hospitable and friendly. The place is as advertised. Clean with a the essentials and many nice touches. Coffee provided was excellent and fresh eggs were delivered. We enjoyed the view from the back porch area where we grilled every evening. It was quiet and the setting was awesome. We chose to stay in to eat rather than go out to eat due to the setting and convenience. Would highly recommend. Communicating with the owners was a breeze. Thank you.

Wedding Weekend

Great Stay in the Finger Lakes!

We really enjoyed our stay here! We were about a 20-30 minute drive to both Watkins Glen and Ithaca, so the location was perfect for us. The hosts were very kind and accommodating, and the rental was stocked with everything we needed. Would definitely stay again!

Loved it!

Sunset View lives up to its name! The owners are professional, helpful and friendly. The cottage is charming in decor and has every amenity. I highly recommend a stay here. It was equi-distant between Watkins Glen and Ithaca- perfect for our waterfall trail walks!

Sweet Home Away From Home

This rental has everything you need- exceptionally stocked kitchen. The owner has made it very easy to navigate the property with a great camp folder explaining how everything works and where everything is. Owner very quick to answer any questions I had- great communication. Wonderful views, great porch with an awesome gas fit pit and grill. Exquisitely decorated. Private and quiet. Even has a washer and dryer, which was very convenient.

Excellent host

The property was exactly as listed, very clean and comfortable. The host was quite hospitable, they left us all kinds of snacks and farm fresh eggs from their chickens. Communication was excellent as the host always got right back to us with any questions or concerns. I would definitely stay at this property again in the future if I were to ever be in the area again.

Above and Beyond

High marks all around for this wonderful stay! The hosts, Alicia and Fred, welcomed me upon arrival and were so kind and accommodating. They absolutely had everything I needed but made sure I would ask them if I needed anything. They truly did care that I had every comfort and any needs addressed for my stay. The views are amazing and their place is just as described. Above all. It was extremely clean and tidy with all of the comforts of my own home. I will definitely stay here next time in the area and can’t recommend highly enough.

Amazing Crafting Weekend!

My best friend and myself were absolutely impressed and felt so at home in this cozy place for the weekend. It was incredibly clean, well-stocked, and the house manager was beyond kind! I would give this 10 stars if I could. Very thankful and we’ll be back. Highly recommend. And location is super close to so many wonderful hiking trails!

Perfectly little getaway

Hi there! We are a family of 4 and live in the house on the property with this apartment. My husband and I are both teachers, but have recently decided to begin homeschooling our children. We enjoy spending time outdoors with our family, gardening, spending time on our pontoon boat on Cayuga Lake, visiting state parks, and relaxing on the back porch watching the sunsets!

Whether you're looking to attend an event in the area and only plan to stay for a short time or plan to spend a longer time with us, you will enjoy all aspects of your stay. With a full kitchen and grill outside, you can make your own meals and eat them on the covered, back porch (weather permitting). Or you can drive to one of the surrounding towns and eat out. With Ithaca, Elmira, Owego, Waverly, and Sayre close by, there are many restaurant and tourist options. We highly recommend visiting one of the state parks while here! Ask us about our favorites!
