Overall positive experience in nice neighborhood
Pros: - great communication with host - close proximity to red line in nice neighborhood - huge house with plenty of space - amenities were all functioning properly Cons: - downstairs neighbors were not mentioned in original listing. They were loud at times and could smell smoke from their balcony - bedrooms and bathrooms could use window treatments. Very bright in the bedroom early morning, and my wife was uncomfortable with no window treatments in the bathroom since there is an apartment complex across the street. Overall, a pleasant experience and I would recommend for families due to the space and location to public transit.

Spacious home for extended family
This home is near Rock Creek and the National Zoo, in a nicely wooded and hilly area but close to everything in Washington DC. Following our GPS, we drove from Reagan airport past some nice views of monuments and the historic Watergate, into Rock Creek. This canyon winds its way northwest from downtown, and the drive is very scenic and woodsy, even though it is only minutes from the capitol. The home itself is spacious with high ceilings and an open feel. There is even a tree growing indoors next to the entry way atriium. We felt very secure leaving our car parked next to the garage, it is a very private location near some amazing hiking and bicycle trails. The walk to the Metro subway was a bit vigorous (down steep steps and then a decent elevation gain along the roadway) but very reasonable even for an overweight grandpa in his 60's. The home shows its age in a few places but overall it was a comfortable stay. It was nice to cook many of our meals. We also took advantage of the clothes washer and dryer. Instead of booking three separate hotel rooms, we were able to enjoy staying in a large home that gave everyone privacy while also having plenty of space for us to gather for meals, games, and even a movie or two. Overall we loved it.

Home Away from Home
This is a very spacious home, in a surprisingly private setting in the heart of the District, a walkable distance to the Metro. It was a great alternative to hotel rooms for our family. I would definitely recommend this location.

Great house, great host, very convenient!
Just as described and perfect for our family of 5. The host is always available to help and everything is VERY easy. You also can’t beat the location to see DC.

Wonderful oppotunity to share DC with visitors. Have loved it for over 40 years.
This is a unique and wonderful enclave !

Why they chose this property

This house is a long two block walk (granted there is a large wooden staircase which is a shortcut) to the red line. It is nestled in the treetops in a wooded setting just down the street from great restaurants, shops, excercise studios, bus transportation... a walk to the National Zoo is always fun.

What makes this property unique

The red line opens the door to the city. If you are visiting you can arrive at Union Station and come directly to the red line Cleveland Park metro stop two long blocks from the house . Due to the big staircase though luggage would not be easy to manage. The red line is great for access to downtown (2 stops) and government agencies to the west.
