In all my stays at rental properties, this is only the 2nd time I've ever had to write a negative review. To be clear, the property manager is extremely communicative. However the issues with the property are fundamental and/or reflect an overall lack of care and attention rather than issues that can be fixed on the spot. The property manager seems intent on getting a 5-star review without actually putting in the effort to the property.
For instance, the bed in the master bedroom is a king, but it mine as well be a single it is so concave that trying to sleep on the sides you just get pulled into the middle. There is a ceiling fan in the other bedroom, but no mechanism to turn it on (we did try to communicate about this but no solution was found). When we first arrived and did a walk-through of the house, my partner opened the screen door/storm back door and the glass paneling came off.
There is a couch in the small room in the back which is covered with some kind of couch covering/blanket and it was visibly dirty. There was some kind of crusted matter on the arm of the couch. In the main entrance room my oldest son discovered a toothbrush pushed into the floor into a hole in the floor that is well, a toothbrush-sized hole.
Further, I had specifically communicated with the property manager before arriving to ask whether basic toiletries like shower gel were provided. I was assured they were so did not pack them. However, while there are containers affixed in the shower for shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, the shower gel one was empty. This just reflects a complete lack of care and attention for those who are staying. The white(ish) bath rug is also visibly dirty/stained.
The property manager requires a $500 security deposit to rent. I hesitated to even write a negative review because of possible retaliation but waited until after he specifically wrote me that we left the house in great shape.
Lastly, if one wants to rent this house, they should also just know that structurally the only bathroom in the house is off of the master bedroom and only accessible to any one else by going through the master bedroom. The door to the bathroom is also low and slanted, requiring my 6'1" husband to regularly duck (he did inadvertently hit his head once). It is also on a fairly busy road, rather than tucked into a neighborhood.
