Simply Amazing...

If you are looking for some peace and quiet away from all the building that is going on in and around Playa Grande, this is it! Casa Madarina is one of a kind. A big beautiful comfy house with great bedrooms and a great kitchen area that is a perfect hang out spot once the sun goes down. The most EPIC sunsets every single night, but don't make the mistake of leaving once the sun goes down. The real show is the 30 min. after glow that happens. Marcia and Oscar are the best caretakers of the house. She is an amazing cook and just an all around good person, like the rest of her family. The entire Playa Grande area is under a huge building boom and that is troublesome for the future. But until then stay at this house and have one of the best beaches in CR (mostly) to yourself! Take the boatride over to Tamarindo for the opposite. We did this once and after an hr or 2, I was ready to leave. Very busy and hot. The daily walk to Taco Star is something to write home about. Until next time!

Nice visit

Great visit! Spectacular setting. Some kitchen items could have been fixed up a little and some door locks need to be fixed and/or adjusted. Grounds were kept up well! Resident house keeper was very nice and a great cook. I need to learn Spanish:) Thank you!

Fantastic property, but many problems w property management

Beautiful spot on an amazing beach. The grounds are fantastic, with a great pool, front yard and back yard. The house itself has real style, with a few quirks. Very clean. Despite what the ad says, only 1 room has a true, unfiltered view of the ocean, and there's no home phone. The TV/stereo system doesn't work so well, despite me trying very hard to hook it up right, and telling the management many times. The housekeeper/cook is very cool and a great cook (but the cost of her cooking the meal is actually twice what the ad says). If you have the management connect you to the guy who will grocery shop for you, he does a good job, but be very specific about exact quantities of what kinds of foods you want (but don't expect certain brands that may not be available in the area). And be sure to have a huge amount of cash on hand to pay him for everything when you arrive, as other payment options are very pricey. Make sure you have all the phone numbers correct for management, and all the technology set up beforehand (whatsapp), and all the plans nailed down tight for arrival at the site, as it can be tricky (test the numbers before you leave).

Casa Mandarina is one of few beachfront houses in Playa Grande with a clear view to the ocean. Playa Grande for being a national park, houses are not allow to be completely right in front of the beach, usually there are trees blocking the view to the ocean. Perfect beach break to surf right in front of the house.
