About this property

Lodge in The Woods, Nelson

Welcome to The Woods!

Come and get away from it all in the West Kootenays. This is a mountain Lodge just minutes away from the eclectic town of Nelson. It’s an ideal place for you and your family to unwind or work remotely; with high speed internet, large windows providing plentiful light, and spectacular views of a majestic forest and snow capped mountains.

This is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home on a private 15 acre retreat with soaring trees, a bubbling creeks, a 60’ waterfall and a private beach on Kootenay River.

Two upstairs bedrooms have queen-sized beds and carefully selected furnishings. The third upstairs bedroom features 2 double beds and a single bed that can also be used as a relaxing day bed. It is perfect for children or multiple couples. The forth bedroom is located on the main floor so it is an excellent option for those with mobility issues. It contains a queen bed, toy chest and a play nook for children (or those young at heart). This room sets the stage for wonderful sleep as this dark space has no windows to let in daylight. Each bedroom has crisp white sheets, cozy throw pillows and has been designed to facilitate deep mountain rest.

The third bedroom also contains a large desk and office chair in front of a sun filled picture window. Printer is available upon request. It’s a stunning place to get a little work done!

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything required for a quiet dinner at home. A large farm style dining room table allows for joyous family meals.

The free standing claw foot tub in the upper floor bathroom is a wonderful way to soak off a long day adventuring in the mountains. This room also features a shower. The second bathroom, which in on the main floor, contains a shower. Laundry facilities (washer/dryer) are also available on the main floor.

We are grateful to have high speed internet powered by satellite and we make every effort to ensure you have an uninterrupted WiFi connection. For your entertainment there is a pool table, dartboard, TV with AppleTV (with Netflix, Disney+ and Prime) and games.

Directly behind the lodge, you can savour your own dedicated outdoor space. A large back yard and fire pit awaits you. It’s perfect for enjoying the picturesque setting anytime of day.

A brand new 7 person hot tub is placed on a on a inspiring purpose build outdoor landing. While soaking your stress away, enjoy views of the mountains, valley and lake. (This amenity is shared with the other dwellings on the property)

We are located 15 minutes west of Nelson on Highway 3A, part of the breathtaking Selkirk Loop. Situated on a mountainside just off the highway but secluded enough to take you away from it all.

From the Lodge, you can hear the sound of a nearby creek, meander along the property’s many pathways, and catch an occasional glimpse of roaming elk, deer and even turkeys. A stunning walk through the forest takes you to a secluded beach on the shores of Kootenay Lake. It's simply breathtaking.

Our property is privately positioned with no neighbours in sight. The lodge is adjacent to two other dwellings on our property however. Every effort is made to ensure your privacy.

The Lodge is dog friendly. Guidelines for dogs are as follows:
o Please do not leave your dog unattended in the Lodge (unless crated) or tied up outside

Mecca in the woods!
This property is wonderful! The wood stove gets the place blazing hot during the winter and the hot tub overlooking the river is amazing. The owner was very communicative and I would highly recommend this place to EVERYONE!

Summer Stay
We had a great time. Loved the views! Enjoyed the big dining table and the pool table. It was very hot when we were there and fire ban was on. We had the little beach all to ourselves and hanging out in the water was great.

Great Spot to Enjoy Nelson
Enjoyed our time in the lodge. Important to note that the house is not close to the water and has a very steep trail to get to the waterfall and water. This was fine for us, but could be a challenge for anyone with mobility challenges. The waterfall and water a beautiful when you get there though!

About the host

Host profile image
We love travel and the outdoors. We both adventured extensively as individuals and continued to see the world together. Africa, India, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, South America and Central America have all been destinations. We adore visiting places and especially also meeting new people, exploring cultures, encountering languages and embracing music.

Our biggest adventure of all was realized when our daughter joined our family. We are exceptionally grateful to have traveled with her as well.

Why they chose this property

Simply put, we fell in love with this land. The Woods is truly inspiring. The forest, towering trees, copious water and potential to foster a wholistic life brought us here from our previous home in Calgary. We can't wait to share it with you!

What makes this property unique

Having traveled extensively as a couple and then as a family we have a deep understanding of what makes a relaxing and unique experience - for all ages. We are here to assist with anything you need but will also respect your space and desire for privacy.
