About this property

Large Fenced Yard | Walk to Bear Mtn/Zoo | Shuffleboard

Breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the view of Bear Mountain Ski Resort slopes while enjoying your morning coffee outside on the deck among the pines, or inside the cabin curled up next to the baby blue Swedish fireplace! Antler Inn offers a flexible floor plan and is perfectly located in Big Bear Lake's Moonridge neighborhood, and is just a short 5 minute walk to the zoo and shuttle for Bear Mountain Ski Resort, Snow Summit Ski Resort, and the Big Bear Lake Village.

The instant that you make your way up the stairs from the driveway and turn around, you will immediately understand the steepness of the driveway. You'll find yourself transported to a serene mountain cabin. Have a rock in the chairs on the far side of the deck and enjoy the beautiful view of the ski slopes to your left. Once ready, the rustic wood grain deck invites you to enjoy the cabin inside.

Kitchen: Upon entering the cabin, notice the fully renovated kitchen, complete with quartz countertops, touch activated appliances, and mindful vintage touches throughout. Whether cooking a daily meal or a holiday feast, the kitchen is well appointed with a refrigerator, gas appliances, dishwasher and smaller appliances such as a microwave, toaster, hand mixer, crockpot, and coffee pot. There is even dishware for dining alfresco among the pines under the bistro lights!

The cabin is stocked with the staples: coffee, tea, sugar, sugar alternatives, and cream at the counter coffee station and you'll find spices in the cabinet and condiments in the fridge. Whether for cooking or simply just chatting, a bar height counter with stools is perfectly situated between the kitchen and the living room so you will always be a part of the conversation. An Alexa show device lives above the cabinets for on demand music and can also be used to help with timers while cooking, or any other random information you need a third party to weigh in on.

Living Room: Walking into the living room during daylight, you'll notice how the large windows illuminate the cabin fending off the need for electricity. Under the gorgeous pine ceiling and wood beams lies a large sectional couch with a chaise lounge (opens to a queen sized memory foam sofa sleeper) that is situated perfectly to stare out into the pines or enjoy a fire on a cool evening. After a long day of exploring Big Bear Lake, there is no better feeling than bundled up in a blanket on the couch listening to the crackling fire from the baby blue Swedish fireplace. The first bundle of firewood is included and pairs well with your family's favorite movie on the 42" Smart Roku TV (Netflix, Hulu, and Prime)!

Master Bedroom: Follow the hallway behind the fireplace and you'll head toward a bedroom and one of the bathrooms. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed with a cooling gel mattress that is part memory foam, part coil, offering an option that is satisfying for those who appreciate a mattress on the firmer side, yet not so much that it is uncomfortable for those of us that appreciate a pillow top. Nightstands border the bed and dimmable sconce lights are mounted just above the nightstands on each side of the bed to make it easy to catch up on that favorite book just before bedtime. Silver branch curtains provide privacy, yet allow one to wake-up feeling like you backpacked in the mountains with the views of the pines! Across the room, you'll find a built-in armoire (which stores a fan and high chair) and a sink! Who knew how handy a sink in the bedroom could be, but trust me, you'll love it!

Upstairs Bathroom: Just across the hallway, you'll find a full bathroom with a full sized shower/tub combination. The showerhead has been extended to create a comfortable experience no matter how tall you are! There are plenty of hooks to keep everyone's towels separate. Open to the drawers to find the essentials -- a blow dryer and a first aid kit.

Third "Bedroom" Area - Dining Nook/Built-in Bunks: Walk back out to the living room and turn left to find the cozy dining nook. A dining table with a built-in bench and chairs is positioned under the window and seats 7 (new table expected to arrive late November) providing a private viewing of the large pines and mountain canvas beyond the sprawling deck at every meal. There are built-in bunk beds with new mattresses (comfortable for adults and kids alike) along with a closet (pack and play) and drawers. There is no better way to wake up than from the smell of pancakes in the morning! Please note that we note this as a bedroom as it is private, though it only walled on three sides and does not have a door, as it is open to the living room.

Backyard: The sliding glass door in the dining nook acts as a large looking glass to the rather large fully fenced-in yard where you will notice that there aren't any neighbors directly behind us, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the mountain life and truly relax! The sprawling three-tier deck is perfect for morning yoga, grilling out among the pines, or just relaxing after a long day around the large table! The deck boasts an outdoor dining table that seats 7, a Weber grill, and a built-in bench, which is perfectly situated to chat with the grill master. When warm enough, we encourage you to opt for dinner alfresco under the blanket of stars and the beautiful bistro lights.

Downstairs Bedroom/Game Room: Head back inside and down the recently updated spiral staircase (we re-built this by hand - think of layers of long puzzle pieces) to the second bedroom or what I like to think of as the land of opportunity! You may have noticed the second front door as you walked up the stairs. When snowing, I encourage you to enter through this door to avoid using those slippery steps. You'll notice you are able to prop open the door in the summer months for a beautiful breeze or in the winter make use of the built-in coat hanging rack and bench to get those boots off. Boot trays are offered at the main entrances for you! Please note that this spiral staircase is fairly traditional in that the steps are smaller and it is not for ideal for those that may be unsteady. The downstairs ceiling does come up quick, so its important to be mindful.

You'll find a queen-size daybed with a twin trundle, perfect for a couple or a small family. Both mattresses are memory foam. We choose this for the versatility - enjoy the second TV/game room vibe or sleep. There is a 9ft shuffleboard table and a round game table with a cabinet full of board games (Monopoly, jenga, cranium, and more!). An Alexa show hangs on the wall to provide music on demand, and if you need to do some laundry after a long day on the slopes, the machines are here. Finally, an electric fireplace with a remote is always available to keep you cozy.

Downstairs Bathroom: One might consider the second bathroom to be en-suite, and it is located at the far end of the room and offers a large shower. We are still decorating and plan to add shelves and a closet, but it has the basics!

Guests have access to the entire property.

Nestled in Big Bear Lake's Moonridge neighborhood among the breathtaking pine trees, the location seems to have it all. Antler Inn is walking distance to the zoo, Moonridge Corridor (Dank Donuts and Moonridge Coffee), and the free shuttle for Bear Mountain Ski Resort/Snow Summit Ski Resort/Big Bear Lake Village. Alternatively, you can walk to Bear Mountain Ski Resort and Bear Mountain golf course in 15 minutes. Antler Inn is a 6 minute drive to the lake (swimming, water skiing) and 8 minutes to the Village, making it the perfect location. In fact, Moonridge is one of the few areas in Big Bear Lake where the topography can turn a casual walk into a highlight of the trip, complete with breathtaking views of the lake.

Depending on your destination, you have a few options.

A car will always be your quickest and easiest bet, but I definitely understand wanting to park and leave the car. Please note that the driveway is a bit steep. It can be a bit unsettling when you first see it, but take it slow and keep a foot between you and the retaining wall. Enter at a slight angle in line with the retaining wall. We suggest high clearance vehicles, but have seen low clearance make it up fine though on the way down they can scrape a bumper.

The bus system is not super robust, but does run around the city and Antler Inn is 5-minute walk away from stop 215 (Moonridge & Sheephorn). Check out Routes 1 and 3. I provide more information in the cabin.

We love to walk the neighborhood and it is pretty easy to go to the zoo and really any of the shops on Moonridge Road. You can easily ride or rent bikes and can rent a scooter for a very reasonable amount when you check-in. We will provide all details.

"We’ve stayed in a lot of Big Bear cabins over the years and this one really stands out. Tasha’s taste is impeccable. Not a wooden bear statue in sight! We stayed over Thanksgiving and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook our feast. And she also had so many cute touches for entertaining - linen napkins, woven placemats, water carafes. Also, the cabin had a Christmas tree up with Christmas lights outside. So adorable! We stayed with our dog and the backyard is AMAZING. Lots of room to run and play and completely fenced in. A true gem of a location!!"

"Our families first Christmas in Big Bear . Staying in this amazing cabin made it such a great experience! Tasha was a great host and her quick responses to help when we needed anything made us feel right at home . I would highly recommend this wonderful updated cabin if your ever coming to Big Bear Lake . All the amenities you’ll need and lots of sleeping space!"

"Tasha was a wonderful host and her house is beautiful. It was like staying at a friends house who has great taste and let’s you use the nice towels and linens."

Really enjoyed it!
We loved the cabin! Very close to the mountains, zoo, and the town. We stayed for 3 days and did not want to leave. Host was very responsive and helpful in days leading up to our stay as there was some major storm expected. Instructions on parking and finding items in the house were helpful too.

Snowboarding trip with Family
Perfect getaway with our Adult children. Plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy the fire, enough room for cooking, playing family games and gathering together. The backyard is absolutely perfect for our dogs to play ( fenced in) although we couldn’t enjoy the fire pit and backyard amenities due to the snow, it would be a perfect place for the spring. Kitchen fully stocked, a lot of extras included as far as seasonings, ziplocks ect…..

Great Spot
Property was perfectly situated to walk to Bear Mountain. My 4 year old fell down the circular stair case but that was her fault. The host was very communicative and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. Be sure you have a high clearance car to navigate the driveway. Our 4Runner handled it fine but with ice it’s a steep set up.

A Lovely Stay at Beautiful Antler Inn
The property is beautiful & exactly as pictured. Very clean & organized, comfortable beds & couch, well-stocked kitchen & modern appliances. The staircase to access the downstairs is spiral, so as long as you are careful, it’s fine — I made sure to have our kids access one at a time & with supervision. The host Tasha is just lovely & you can see how much care she put into her beautiful home. I reached out several times during our stay & she always answered promptly & kindly. The TVs have Roku so you can log into your own streaming services. The property is just a few minutes from Bear — I didn’t find it walkable with two young kids, but it is a two minute drive which worked fine for our needs. Close to the Vons & DoorDash delivers. The backyard is large & was perfect for snow play & having drinks by the fire pit. Trash needs to be taken & dropped at a clean site upon departure which was easy & just down the street. There are so many convenient touches — the bedroom has a mirror & sink, which was helpful in getting ready. We cooked several nights & the kitchen had everything needed, including glassware for happy hour & plasticware for kids. I felt like I was staying at a friend’s home because Tasha has taken care to make it so comfortable & inviting. We had a perfect & relaxed vacation — our accommodations & host played a big part in that. We try to visit Bear several times a year & our family is looking forward to our next stay at Antler Inn.

I figured that I would rather be in the mountains in a cabin than in a city during COVID. I assumed that I would renovate the cabin in 3 months and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Little did I know that 3 months would turn into a year. I enjoyed every minute of it and am thrilled to be able to share my cabin with others!

Why they chose this property

I purchased this cabin in 2020 when it became clear that I would be working from home for sometime. Built in 1961 by a Hollywood producer, the cabin was ahead of its time. The cabin had everything that I was looking for - a large open floorplan, perfect to enjoy with family and friends. The spiral staircase is unique and brings a fun architectural element to the cabin, as do the large (original) windows. The sink in the master bedroom is quirky and incredibly handy. The fenced yard makes it nice to enjoy the backyard, and we have plans for it!

What makes this property unique

The cabin has (almost) been fully renovated and offers a large fenced yard. All appliances in the home are new. There is a sink in the master bedroom, which is quirky, but so handy. The Swedish Fireplace is original and adds a nice bit of vintage charm, while the furniture and mattresses are all new and so comfy! There is a large game cabinet downstairs and a shuffleboard table, which is great fun for the whole family. It is really neat to be able to sit at the kitchen island and look out through the sliding glass door and/or picture window to see the ski slopes or just hang out on the couch and look out into the trees. There is this very serene feeling like you are in the middle of the woods, and yet you can literally walk to the zoo!
