About this property

Great Barrington/Housatonic Village Getaway—bring your dog!

Three second-floor bedrooms, two baths (one up, one down), in my sweet, cozy village home in a quiet, safe, and walkable neighborhood. Your dog is welcome (although I can't seem to update this in the settings)! This home is family-friendly, with a fine front porch (which acts like a a deck), gardens and tall backyard trees. Located in the village of Housatonic. Great Barrington's charming secret neighborhood, it's within minutes of choice destinations in the Southern Berkshires, down the road from Tanglewood music Norman Rockwell Museum, Naumkeag gardens, theaters pubs and lots of food! Borrow my bikes to cycle, or hike right out down the street to several trails or nearby Monument Mountain. Walk to a funky little local restaurant called Pleasant and Main, Berkshire Mountain Bakery, The Commons Pub or our local tea shop. Kids and adults can also enjoy dance and yoga class at Berkshire Pulse, right down the street. As this is my full-time home (not a sterile commercial rental!) you will be quite comfortable and happy here!

Host profile image
I am a busy professional living in the Berkshires since 1985. I work and play in my Berkshire community, and when not in the Berkshires, I am generally sailing on the Narragansett Bay. I am a big reader, so you will find lots of books at my house, along with family games and a few children's toys as well (thanks to my grandson!). I am a full-time homeowner living in this house, and so it feels like a real home! (This also means that it's not a stripped down commercial rental).

Why they chose this property

This property is quite "New England"--it is a traditional "Sears Kit" house from the 1920s with original wood inside, tall ceilings downstairs and charming details. It's cozy inside but outdoor oriented with almost an acre of village land framed by tall trees and some fine gardens at my house and in the neighborhood. The front porch is my "deck," where I socialize and relax all summer, and that's where I see my friendly neighbors pass by most days.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location. Did we mention location? Walkable and super convenient location.
