About this property

Quiet, clean, spacious home - walk to the beach, Yaquina light house & surfing.

Blue Agate Beach House is in the historic Agate Beach neighborhood, and is within walking distance from so much! It's two blocks from trails down to the local beach with amazing tidepools during low tide. Or a few steps further and you find yourself in Yaquina Head Natural Area which has a network of trails and views up and down the coast. The famous Yaquina Head Lighthouse sits at the end of the headlands and shouldn't be missed. Or, if you're a surfer, you can walk to the south side of the headlands and hit some of the best surfing on the Oregon Coast at Agate Beach. The adventurous can continue walking the beach for a couple of miles all the way to Nye Beach and Newport proper to visit the restaurants and shops.
The house is clean & spacious, with vaulted ceilings and a large, open living room with a cozy wood stove for the chilly days & nights. The bedroom is huge, as well as its connecting bathroom, and the full-sized kitchen has all the amenities for at-home cooking. There's so much to see and experience outside, but the house will make you thankful for those rainy days so you can cozy up to the fire, read a book, and just relax.

Why they chose this property

Newport is one of the best towns on the Oregon coast for its size, the nature around it, its history, its library, the quality of the people and the many characters who live here. There is so much to see in all directions, and you can start small -- just walk out the door and explore the neighborhood, the beach, the headlands, watch birds, waves, rent surf gear from Ossie's Surf Shop about a half-mile away. Town is a short drive, where you can find all your supplies, eat great food, drink quality beer, get the local vibe. There's the Performing Arts Center which stages regular performances, the Sylvia Beach Hotel for those writerly folks in your life, a great little bookstore, kitchen store, excellent ice cream, a wonderful co-op grocer -- Oceana Natural Foods. There are plenty of delicious seafood restaurants to be found, a historic bridge across the bay, active fisheries, the aquarium -- the list goes on and on.
I love this place for all the things it has, and this house has some very good vibes, too. It's a special home, very liveable, comfortable, quiet, and easy to relax in. You'll get it when you're here -- it's an excellent place to unwind. It's a little bit older coastal home and we keep loving care of it. If you treat it with care and respect and it will treat you like the best kind of family.
