About this property

Mountain View Lodge — Lost in the Forest

Welcome to our lodge!
Please enjoy and use our property with pride and respect.
*TWINKLING LIGHTS IN THE FOREST*
Once on Hill Top Heights the pavement turns into a gravel road that feels like a path in the woods. (10mph) The entry to Hill Top Lodging to the right, is lit up by twinkling lights in the forest. Lodge to the right.
*BRING THE GROCERIES*
Enjoy cooking in a well equipped kitchen or grill on the extra large deck. Dine together on the private deck with more twinkling lights and outstanding views. Please take care to not leave extra food outside. Our local tiny thieves (raccoons) will help themselves. Eat in kitchen with large dining table or find a cozy corner in the breakfast room. Sip your coffee from the private deck in the early mornings. Enjoy quality time together, watching the calming mist come up through the hollow, hovering softly over the trees. Quietly watching for the neighboring deer, headed down the rock paths for a quick drink from the river.
*UNPLUGGED ENTERTAINMENT*
The lodge, though large, feels rustic cozy.
Chose between 4 bedrooms with private on-suite baths. King and Queen sized plush beds.
Our living area boasts a double lounging over sized couch and 65 inch TV, cozy watching entertainment. Available on request is our outdoor projector screen offering great fireside experiences.
The design and process putting a billiards room together for our guests was such a joy. We do expect guest to adhere to adults only use of pool table. Damages will be persued.
Look around and find a leaning walking stick. Enjoy hikes through the forest or stick to the paths. All paths lead to the river. Fishing equipment available.

All pets brought are to be under control of owners and never left alone in structure. All pets are to be checked in at time of booking.
STRICT NO PETS ON FURNITURE, damages will be persued.

Septic systems are sensitive so only paper and cleaners provided.

Please be aware of all guests on property. The cabin and its surroundings are rented to guests separately. Respect of privacy and noise is always appropriate.

Great Experience
Wonderful location out in the woods! The kitchen had all the dishes we needed to do our cooking, and there were plenty of towels available. The host/hostess was very responsive to my questions, and provided me the door key as soon as I requested it. The inside is very well decorated and taken care of. We really enjoyed having the pool table and long kitchen table for family interaction. Note that aside from outdoors and the kitchen table, there is not really a place for everyone to gather around a TV (can fit about ~4-5 adults in front of the TV) -- this was not a problem for our party, but its something you may need to keep in mind. Our only complaint was the lack of wash clothes, but that was a very minor thing. We had a wonderful time!

Family Christmas Retreat
Hilltop Lodge was the perfect place for our family Christmas retreat. Comfy bedrooms with adjacent baths, lots of cozy nooks for reading and chatting (we tried them all!), and all the river ridge views. Loved the fun and festive decor and preparing meals in the awesome kitchen. Couldn't have asked for a better location.

Good, but ...
Things we liked: The house was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and met all our needs. The dining table easily seated our 7 adults. The bedrooms with en suite bathrooms were really nice. The fire pit area behind the house was a favorite. The view from the back yard was better than expected. Things that could have been better: If anyone in your group has mobility issues, be aware that there are several (5) sets of stairs. Three sets only have 3 steps, and all have handrails. The path to the river includes a very steep descent for about 50 yards. The living area with the main tv only had enough room for a sofa and a chair. Our group of 7 could not congregate in the space provided. The wireless appeared to be Hughes Satellite, and the lack of speed caused a lot of buffering when watching tv. Communication with Brenda, the owner, could have been better. Using the VRBO messaging system, I contacted her to inquire about the hot tub that was listed for the property. She said that was a mistake and the hot tub was at the cabin, not the house. The hot tub had been the deciding factor in which house we would rent. I contacted her on the day of our arrival when we were about 15 miles away from the house to let her know of our arrival. We received no instructions on how to get into the house, and, after arriving, had to text her to get the key code. On the plus side, Brenda responded quickly to solve a lighting/breaker issue.

Amazing property to stay at!!!!
We came in town for a wedding, and this place had so many great things to list. All rooms are ensuites, spacious comfy beds. Fully stocked kitchen. The outdoor space was so relaxing with many places to hang out. We walked to the river. Wish we could have stayed a few more days to enjoy more this property has to offer.
