The owner double booked this property and nearly ruined my daughter’s graduation from UF
DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY ON ANY GRADUATION OR GAME DATES—YOU MAY NOT HAVE A PLACE TO STAY!!!!The owner double booked this property the weekend of my daughter’s graduation from UF. Her property manager did not tell us this until we arrived at the property on the day we rented the house and I called the owner to ask how to get in. She said while we were sitting in the driveway of the property that we could not check in because the owner had double booked the property for graduation and the other family had arrived first and had already checked in. The property manager apologized profusely but it was graduation weekend, and it was very very difficult to get hotel rooms at a decent price for weekend. She texted me links to properties around Gainesville as an alternative, but these vacation rentals were all booked for graduation. I ended up having to book 2 separate rooms off of the interstate 30 minutes away. which cost twice as much as the rate I booked for the house. Neither the property manager, nor the owner, nor VRBO, paid for the extra cost. The only good thing I can say about the experience is that another website saved the day and was the only one that offered a reasonable price last minute on graduation weekend so the 6 of us didn’t have to sleep on the floor of my daughter’s apartment. VRBO did refund my money for the stay, but so far I have not managed to get the difference I had to pay between that property and the hotel I had to stay in that I obtained last minute
