BUILDING HISTORY
Back in the 1850s, George T. Soule and his brothers built what we call today The Granary. Back in the day, the brothers were local builders and had a hand in supplying materials and building many of the local structures from that era. They also sold grains and feed out of the building, but building supplies, and actually building local structures was their mainstay. Long after the Soule brothers were gone, the building slowly fell into disrepair with various businesses occupying its space. But back in 2002, Cass came across this decrepit building and somehow after about 18 months convinced his architect father get involved. Then in 2003 the father and son team purchased the building. Nearly 3 years later in 2006 the building was reborn as The Granary. Cass has since lovingly cared for the building and its surroundings.

Amazing!
What a great experience! Not only is the space beautiful, its close proximity to town is so convenient. I was looking for some quiet time as a treat and my stay at The Nest was wonderful! I’m looking forward to booking again soon.

Comfortable, clean, and close to great options!
My husband and I were looking to spend some quality time together while the grandparent's watched our kiddo - and this was the perfect spot! It was very clean and well cared for. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen had anything you needed. The couch in the living room was soft leather. The TV has Roku. It has a nice little outdoor deck to people watch and get some fresh air. The parking spot reserved just for us was a nice touch. Our first night we made a reservation at Lucia's. We walked 5 minutes down the safe and calm road to where all the restaurants and stores are and had a fantastic meal. They had a short rib special that was to die for and excellent cocktails. The second day we drove 5 minutes to Lover's Leap. It's a easy walk up to the gorgeous view of the Housatonic river, and if you're up for it there are additional trails. We took the blue / red trail up up up to where there was even more beautiful views. We hit up Primo deli after and got the most delicious burrito, such a gem of a spot. At night we hit up Sparrow's, an asian-fusion spot, and wow, it definitely became one of our absolute favorite spots in all of CT. We recommend the steak skewers, KFC bao buns, and pork belly fried rice with the Florence cocktail to wash it down. Delicious! (We ordered some bao buns to go after our meal and walked back to our nice rental). You can tell the owner Cass cares about his rental. We'd come back again!

Clean, Spacious and Centrally located
This little gem is located right in the heart of New Milford. Lots of shopping available just a short distance away. It is a very short trip to trails for Lover's Leap too. We were even close enough to New York to tackle some trails there as well. The unit was clean, roomy and warm. The wter pressure is amazing. Overall a great place to stay!

Everything about the property was smooth sailing. From check-in to check-out. Communication with the host was prompt and efficient. The apartment itself is very comfortable and inviting. We had a great time!

I'm really a jack of all trades. Fueled by 3 decades in the building and property management business. And having an architect for father, I've always had a love for historic structures, art, and nature. I've spent the last 15 year living in New Milford at The Granary. I love living here with some many cool places to go. Hiking and the flea markets are a favorite past times, as well as art and photography.

Why they chose this property

I have owned and managed The Granary since 2006. I have live here in the building for some time now, and wanted to share this great spot with visitors and friends. Its a great place to set up base camp for all the adventures the surrounding area has to offer. Its location so close to town, makes it ideal for an around town stroll for a meal, shopping, a movie , or maybe a concert on the green.
