About this property

Walk to New River Log Home, 2 lg decks, Great views+location, gated comm Hot Tub

Charming country comfort is what you get at BearFoot Hideaway. Located in a private, gated community in BOONE, a short stroll from the meandering New River, this authentic 3 story log cabin sits on an acre and has all the conveniences you could ask for, complete with a country atmosphere and adorable country bear theme. Property is fully fenced in for the safety of children and furry family. A bird watcher's dream, hummingbirds, and many varieties of birds come to our feeders.
Bring the kids and SWIM AND TUBE on the New River, hike trails and bike our railroad grade roads alongside the New River. The cabin is striking with vaulted pine LOG WALLS and exposed-beam CATHEDRAL CEILINGS. Comfy seating and gorgeous mountain views through the huge windows and doors. Enjoy the WOOD-BURNING FIREPLACE or play Foosball, giant JENGA, ping pong or darts. We have a cabinet full of kid's and adult board games, jigsaw puzzles and more for indoor enjoyment.

The fully-equipped kitchen has a large breakfast bar and dining area. All the conveniences of your home kitchen! 2 WRAPAROUND DECKS for dining & grilling, Adirondack chairs and gliders with plenty of seating to enjoy the sounds of the river and drink in the mountain views. 2 picnic areas for outdoor dining. Accessible outside areas are fully fenced. Bird-watching is a favorite activity from the decks. Two brand-new memory foam sleeper sofas provide comfort and convenience. All 4 bedrooms are charmingly decorated and spacious.

Free WIFI and free long distance. 3 flat screen smart TVs.

A PRIVATE step down HOT TUB is located on the lower deck for you to enjoy after a day of hiking, skiing and mountain activities. Have a real outdoor campfire or cookout in the FIREPIT, or cook on our gas grill.

Very private community, but close to all activities. 5 miles to App State

River Community: Bearfoot Hideaway is in a private family oriented river community along The New River. Fish from the banks or bridge, stroll along the banks, enjoy the wildlife.

Nature at its best: Relax and enjoy the gorgeous views or watch the birds and woodland animals from one of our huge wrap around decks, or while soaking in our sunken hot tub. Then dry off and warm yourself by our outdoor firepit, or our stone fireplace.

If you are so inclined, please feed the birds and hummingbirds with the food we have in the cabin.

We also provide WIFI and free long distance calling and trash pickup which is something you will NOT find in most cabins in the mountains.

We have instituted enhanced cleaning protocols to disinfect the cabin between guests. Check in and check out times have been changed to accommodate longer cleaning times.

Underground Power lines: Bearfoot Hideaway is located in a community with underground power lines! The benefit if which is that the cabin does not have power outages when the weather is inclement, as other homes in the area experience frequently. During the blizzard of '09 when 88% of Watauga county was powerless, (some for more than 4 days), Bearfoot Hideaway did not experience even one split second of power loss.
Security: We are in a private gated community. Our property access is protected outside via motion sensor lights that will light the stairs for your arrival, smart doorbell and security monitoring for your safety.

*PLEASE NOTE, valid phone number and email required for all inquiries. Please check your entries before submitting. A person 25 years of age or older must be the responsible party and must be in attendance in the cabin.

Beyond Incredible~
Family vacation, despite the rare 4 days of rain, we had an incredible stay. Vistas. Family time. Quiet. Deer. Hot tub. Grill (used only once as we cooked great meals. Trish responsive for a minor hot tub issue even on vacation! Nina and three year old had a great time with games, some we brought. Sun returned last two days for river activities. Close to Boone but NO traffic. Would like to go back again.

About the host

As 2 business professionals, we never had time to decompress, until we purchased our cabin 'Bear Foot Hideaway'. I am an avid gardener and birdwatcher, and my husband loves to hike. The crisp clean mountain air and nature sounds from the woods around our cabin make us feel as if we escaped the world. The starlit sky at night is only overshadowed by the June fireflies or the roaring fire we build in our outdoor firepit. Bear Foot Hideaway is our piece of heaven in the Blue Ridge Mountains!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with our log cabin the moment we walked onto the deck. The mountain views and authentic log construction was exactly what we were looking for.

What makes this property unique

We love mountain biking and hiking along the Blue Ridge. Summer is a great time for tubing on our very own New River. The Autumn is also a favorite time of year to be in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The changing leaves of Fall, along with the cooler temperatures makes for a heavenly getaway. From the time the first snowflake falls, until late March skiing, Boone is a winter wonderland. There are Arts & Crafts Festivals all year long.
