About this property

Up North Cottage on Summit Lake! Pontoon negotiable!!

***Summer booking calendar will be opened up at the beginning of April. Feel free to send a booking inquiry, before then, if interested in booking with us***

Overview: Nicely updated Modern 1700 sq ft Cape Cod cottage in the Northwoods of WI which can comfortably sleep 6. We are located on a 1-acre lot with old growth Hemlocks, Maples, Birch and Pines in the front and side yards and a back yard with wide open views of Summit Lake (300 acres of quiet recreation lake) that naturally slopes down to our 100’ of lake frontage. Enjoy use of the pier and 2 included kayaks (our 2006 20 ft Pontoon is available for rent – if interested, please send an owner inquiry upon completing your reservation). The county trail system is easily accessible for year-round recreational activities – bring your bike and/or running shoes to step off the driveway onto the county roads for an enjoyable 5-15 mile run/bike around the local lakes; Summit, Bass, Waterpower, Deep Woods. Summit Lake State Park is across the lake from our cottage and 18 holes of classic up north golf awaits at Bass Lake Country Club is 5 minutes away. Rhinelander is less than 30 minutes door to door and Minocqua is an easy hour drive – as is Eagle River. Numerous Bars and Restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive for that up north fish fry (we’re happy to provide recommendations upon booking).

Space:

Our cottage is a traditional cape cod style home with an open upstairs loft, 2 bedrooms/1 full bath located on the main floor and a partially finished basement that includes an accessory toilet.

The bedrooms have a king bed in the primary and a queen bed in the secondary. The full bath has a tub and updated showerhead.

Updated Chef’s kitchen with all the needed cooking equipment/utensils for those stay in dinners or morning brunches (we love to cook). New stainless steel Whirlpool appliances as of 2020: refrigerator, dishwasher, electric stove/range, microwave and disposal. Dining room table can accommodate 6 people and there’s 3 stools at the breakfast bar.

The Living room includes two full sized couches that were purchased in 2020, as was the 50-inch mounted Samsung smart TV which has the necessary built-in apps for streaming. Dual sliding glass doors in the living area open to the deck where we have 4 bar height chairs and table to sit and enjoy the lake views.

The upstairs open loft area has a queen bed, a pulled-out futon (two single sized blow-up beds are also available) and a small couch that can double as a workspace with a stellar view.

The basement is fully accessible and includes a workout area, treadmill, elliptical, mounted 30-inch Samsung smart TV, full sized Whirlpool washer/dryer, utility sink and the accessory toilet.

Our Wifi service is hardwired, so it’s dependable and adequate to run multiple devices at once. We’re able to work remotely without any issues and zoom/video calls run smoothly. Verizon and T-Mobile wireless service is good in our area.

The water service for the house is from our Well. We installed a water softener in 2020 and the water quality is as good, if not better than public water service. So no need to bring bottled water, etc.

Yard/Outdoor area:

Large firepit area immediately off the deck overlooking the lake. There is large 2-person swing chair and three maple stumps that line the fire pit.

Our driveway area between the house and garage is open and can accommodate 2-3 cars for parking. Note, the open yard to the east is our neighbors – so access to our house is in/out of our driveway only.

Gas grill will be available for outdoor grilling.

Security cameras are present outside – which are necessary for us to maintain the property. They are located on the Northeast and Northwest corners of the garage and above the west sliding glass door facing the deck.

Guest access: We spend a considerable amount of time at our cottage, so it is set-up as a primary residence. The closets in the bedrooms will be locked off – however, adequate hanging areas are available in each bedroom. 2 dresser draws in each of the bedrooms will be open for guest use. There will be a couple drawers locked in the bathroom, along with a couple of cabinets locked in the kitchen – none of which impact the functionality of the bathroom/kitchen. The garage will be locked and not accessible to guest use.

Wonderful stay!
Our family of 6 (including our kids and their grandparents) had a wonderful 5-day stay at the cabin. The location is perfect with a lot of privacy and access to the lake. The cabin was spacious, extremely well stocked, and had everything that we needed. Communication with Wes was excellent - he provided all information that we needed about the property and gave some great local tips about the area. We definitely hope to return in the future.

Wonderful Cottage on a Beautiful Lake
The moment my family and I stepped into this incredibly clean cottage you could see the attention to detail with all the homey touches. Our host, Wes, was extremely personable, accessible, and very responsive to our needs. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay combined with a great view of Summit Lake. We fished off the pier, used the 2 kayaks, and saw an abundance of wildlife, like the deer walking along the shore into the woods. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here!
