About this property

Forest dream house for remote work and rest

Welcome to my cozy home in the lush forests of northern Patagonia! The property is surrounded by trees and has access to 10 km of private trails, river access for fishing, and lookout spots with a view of the volcanoes. The house itself is architecturally unique, with a two-story sunroom that basks in natural light.

Enjoy high-speed Starlink internet for remote work from the office or several terraces with tree views. And in the evening, curl up next to the eco-friendly pellet heater.

About the host

Host profile image
I'm originally from Chile but have lived in many different countries. I work in education technology, spent time in China teaching English at a public school, and helped rural Chilean schools connect to the Internet through my work at our Ministry of Education. I love traveling, bike touring, reading science fiction and history, and learning languages.

I am primarily based in the United States and rent my place out when I'm in California. However, I have family in the area who can go and help on short notice, including coordinating airport transfers. You can also reach me anytime by phone and I will arrange anything that needs fixing.

Why they chose this property

Architecturally stunning two-story custom house with eco-friendly materials. Ensconced in a conservation-minded development with access to 10km of private trails, fishing on the Maullín River, look-out points, and a community garden with kale and artichokes. Complete privacy -- surrounded by forest, no other homes visible from the property. Just 15 minutes from the airport and 25 minutes from Puerto Varas -- the best of remoteness and convenience.

What makes this property unique

The space:

The house is new and modern, with two stories. The bottom floor is an open-plan space with a kitchen and living room, and access to the sunroom and deck. There is also a small laundry room with extra storage space.

The second floor has three bedrooms (including an office/bedroom) and two bathrooms, as well as a sunroom terrace and a main bedroom balcony. There is a wide hallway on the second floor, which also has a large closet to make up for the small closet space in the rooms.

The house was built using sustainable materials with great insulation, so it warms up very quickly. The dining area is the kitchen island, with tall seats. Heating is through a pellet heater in the first-floor central area, which feels like the hearth of the home.

IMPORTANT:

- A car is required to access the property.

- The peace and quiet of the listing are thanks to its remote location. Access is through a 10km dirt road which is generally well-maintained but might have some bumps. Any small car or sedan should be able to handle it.

- There is no dishwasher, but there is ample space for drying dishes and a large and comfortable kitchen sink with a moveable faucet.

- There is no TV but we do have a projector you can use on a blank wall. Feels like a little home theater!

- We are trying to let the forest heal. As such, there is minimal landscaping, so don't expect a lawn!

- As this is a new development, we've occasionally had water pressure issues. If this happens, let me know and I can call the maintenance staff to restart the pump.

- The hot water and kitchen stove are gas-powered. I replaced the gas ganister recently, so you should not have an issue, but if it runs out let me know and I'll order a replacement to arrive within the day. If you need to cook in the meantime, there are two camping stoves as well as the oven and an electric grill.
