About this property

Secluded Beach House, steps to Sandy Beach on LGI with a shared dock!🏖️🎣

Escape to a private paradise at Seaside Cottage on Little Gasparilla Island! ☀️Enjoy a secluded stay in a renovated cottage just steps away from a private beach. This is a BRIDGELESS barrier island which gives guests an uncrowded beach and secluded atmosphere. It is only a 2-minute walk to the beautiful beach and owners include complimentary two beach chairs and an umbrella. 🌺

The Space:
Little Gasparilla Island is a barrier island accessible only by boat; we provide water taxi information when you book. You cannot drive your vehicle to the island; you park at the Eldred’s Marina on the mainland where you catch the water taxi. There are no stores, bars, or restaurants on Little Gasparilla which means it has retained much of its "old Florida" ambiance and pristine beauty. For years Little Gasparilla was visited only by locals who would come on weekends to fish, go to the beach, and enjoy the privacy, and peace. Now, even though it has been discovered, the lack of commercial establishments means that the island appeals to those who want to get away from crowds, tourists, and traffic.
Seaside Cottage is a comfortable two-bedroom cottage on desirable Seagrape Lane. It features a screened porch with chaise lounges and a table for dining. It also has an outdoor grill to cook the fresh seafood caught during your fishing expeditions. Inside, visitors will find an open area with a fully equipped kitchen and new appliances. The master bedroom features a queen bed and the other has two twin beds. The outside shower gives you the luxury to refresh yourself after a beach day. An outside ring camera is on the left side of the porch. The camera is only used for security purposes. It does not affect the guest's privacy because the camera faces the stairs. 🩴

“Hi there! We are Maday and Ricardo, originally from Cuba but have lived in Florida for 30 years. We discovered Little Gasparilla Island on our 28-anniversary trip in 2018 and fell in love with the island. Then, we found this house, did an extensive renovation, and decided to share our cozy cottage with other families. We have two adult children and grandkids who love spending time here. Our hobbies are traveling and spending time with the family. We are looking forward to hearing from you! I’ll do my best to make your stay comfortable and help you enjoy this magical place to the fullest! Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding my listing.”

Why they chose this property

The most unique attribute of Little Gasparilla is its lack of a bridge. All access is by private boat or water taxi. There are no roads and no cars, and traffic and tourists are just a mainland memory. The island offers 7 miles of beautiful pristine beach unspoiled by either seawalls or high-rises. During the summer, the beach is a nesting spot for endangered sea turtles which lay their eggs in the warm sand near the dunes. The shells on the island are among the most plentiful on the West Coast and the beaches are dotted with prehistoric shark's teeth free for collecting. The best time to go shelling is just before and at low tide and after a storm. Be sure to check the high tide lines where the surf often tosses the largest shells. The sandbars are home to sand dollars, whelks, starfish and conchs. Mostly, Little Gasparilla offers privacy and tranquility and a rare sense of peace not found at many Florida vacation spots.

What makes this property unique

Many days you can walk the beach for hours without seeing another soul. Golf cart rentals are available on the island for scenic tours, but many people prefer to walk the sandy pathways. All of the beaches on Little Gasparilla Island are privately owned by the homeowners up to the high-water line. There are no golf carts allowed on the beach. Bird watchers will spot egret and osprey, rare white pelicans, blue herons, and even the occasional bald eagle. The waters are rich with manatees and dolphins and the waves are gentle and calming and perfect for floating on a raft. The bottom is mostly white sand, so there is little to see while snorkeling...though you can often find sand dollars off the sand bar. Fishing from either the dock or the beach can provide daily entertainment -- and a hearty meal depending on your luck...and at the end of a long day, a breathtaking sunset over the Gulf of Mexico gently eases you into the evening.
