About this property

Winter Cabin close to trails easy lake access by Bigfork, Hibbing, Grand Rapids

Our beloved family cabin is ready for you. Send a message to learn more about the area and location! Great yard to park your ATV/snowmobile trailers! The inside is a perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal and movie. Just north of Grand Rapids and south of Big Fork. Drive-in on the scenic HWY 7, turn off onto County Rd 52 and then turn onto E Long Lake Lane. A private dirt road where the abundant forest canopy creates almost a tunnel like feel it is a short drive to the cabin. You have left the chaos behind in favor of relaxation and simplicity.

Once you arrive, you’ll find the cabin inviting and ready to enjoy. Because of the construction our grass has not grown back yet. We have some landscaping to do to make the outside more user friendly but still a great place to unwind. The cabin was built in 1970 and we have worked to upgrade it. The main cabin has two bedrooms (Master bedroom has a comfortable king bed and the second bedroom has two twin beds that could be put together to make another king bed), a fully equipped kitchen, dining and living room upstairs and a game room in the basement. There is also a futon in the basement. We have a TV/VHS/DVD player and many movies; but no WIFI yet. You’ll have minimal cell reception, but a hot spot works if you were to bring one. There is a patio down by the dock overlooking the lake and lots of area to play games. Bring some of your favorites.

Our lakeshore gives you easy access to trails from either the driveway or when the lake freezes right from our yard. During the summer our lakeshore is equipped with a dock. Kayaks are available for use. If you would like a canoe or two; please ask and they can be made available. There is a public water access down off Hwy 7 about 8 miles if you bring your own boat. You can park your boat at the dock on the property.

As the stars come out over the lake and the loons call into the evening you can step outside and look up. Being so far away from the cities provides great visibility for enjoying shooting stars and northern lights. There is a fire pit to enjoy the outdoors at the cabin and we have fire wood available. The cabin is located almost on the Taconite and B&B Trails. You can ride your snowmobile right out onto the lake and catch the trail. Step out for a hike or hop on your ATV and explore hidden lakes and trails. Colraine is about 20 minutes away and offers a great winery “Smoke on the Water” and antique shop. Bovey has Mt Itasca for skiing! Grand Rapids is about 40 min away and has every amenity you could need as well as a great farmers market, a museum, antique stores, and boat/ATV/Jet Ski rentals. Closer to home, the small town of Big Fork about 25 minutes away offers some restaurants, golfing, art center, and grocery store. We are also close to Scenic State Park that is a great place to visit for hiking, and has a great beach. If you are in the area to hunt or fish this is a great place to stay. The area offers Grouse, Deer and Bear hunting. You need a license and permission to hunt on property. There is no hunting or shooting on the property. We have a large yard for your Trailers or a camper. Call us. We want to share the magic of a classic MN cabin with you! Let us know if you have any questions or inquiries!

My husbands Grandpa bought land up here 60 years ago. So, we have been coming to this area for many years and really enjoy it. We have built our own cabin in the area and we have many family members close by. We want to share this peaceful experience with others. Please ask about things in the area and we are happy to give some suggestions.

Why they chose this property

We love the peace and quiet of the area with the abundance of things to do. We love all the trails for biking and hiking. If we need a night out there are restaurants within a short drive. The wildlife in the area is great for viewing. You are steps away from the water where you can enjoy a canoe or kayak ride. Please bring your own boat or pontoon if you like. The lake is good for swimming. We don't have our waterfront area ready to walk out into the water yet but you can jump in off the dock. No diving the water is not super deep off the dock.

What makes this property unique

Our property allows you to sit back and relax in a comfortable space. We are close to many trails for your ATV or Snowmobile. If you love fishing you can do it in the winter and the summer. We have taken a cabin that needed some TLC and brought it back to life. We have been working on it with our family and friends. Please know we still have some work to do but we know you will have a great place to sleep in comfort because we all know that fresh air makes you tired.
