It is a sanctuary, offering peace and tranquility surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. The perfect place to get away, be in nature and enjoy amazing sunsets. The surrounding area is spectacular with amazing views at every turn, a geological wonderland. The famous Painted Hills are only 15 minutes away by car, and the other 2 units of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, the Sheep Rock, and the Clarno Rock Formations, are between 40 and 70 minutes away by car driving along fantastic scenic byway routes to get there. There is so much to explore and experience here. You can go hiking along the John Day River or in any of the 3 units of the National Monument, hunt for fossils, go swimming in the river, go fishing or boating, watch birds and other abundant wildlife, make some of the best landscape photographs, paint the beauty surrounding you, watch the starry sky in the peaceful nights and just enjoy Mother Nature at her best.
