About this property

Renovated home surrounded by Bay and Gulf beaches on Manasota Key. Allergen-free

Breakfast on the large, bright Lanai. The lanai is the Mecca for living in this home. It offers comfortable seating for reading; table for meals, games, and puzzles; two walls of window for enjoying nature. The full kitchen makes cooking a pleasure. Beachcombing and swimming on the white sandy beaches of the Gulf. A favorite pastime is hunting for shark's teeth among the shells. Golf on one of the many great courses in the area.

Lunch or dinner at the great restaurants in the area. Performances in Englewood and Venice. Large farmers' market two miles away on Thursday. Quaint villages over a mile away in Englewood and in Venice. Ringling Brothers Museum in Sarasota, plus performances in nearby communities, including downtown Englewood Village. Walking in the 210-acre nature preserve/jungle that borders the development... or one of the other nearby parks. Watching the birds nest in the Rookery or the 2400 bats take flight for the hunt at night.

Later at night, wind down with reading, cards, or television. Less outside light for better star-gazing. You might even see Space-X taking off from the Cape. Life in a bird sanctuary! And with luck the 5-foot tall Sandhill cranes will visit you at the property. They are only the most spectacular of the many birds that spend their time in the area.

Beach, jungle, shopping ~~spend a month in the middle of it all. A month with all the comforts of home and many more adventures available.

About the host

Host profile image
I traveled all over the world before I found this jewel of a house in SW Florida. The warm weather, the flowering plants, the nearby beaches, the large exotic birds all add to the attraction of this comfortable home. They provide a respite from the demands of normal life and provide inspiration for my art-- paintings and novels. My easel stays in the house for my guests. When there, my life centers in the lanai. I also like to watch the alligator in the lake. But, no petting!!

Why they chose this property

The house is in a community of friendly people. I watch the sunset from my front porch and then visit with the neighbors walking by my yard. I walk in the nature preserve and put my toes in the Bay or in the Gulf. The neighborhood is an island of quiet in the middle of towns bustling with tourist attractions. And there are golf courses aplenty in the area.

What makes this property unique

An Artist's Retreat is a home of beauty and comfort. The kitchen has three coffee makers and most cooking equipment even a gourmet would need. Grocery stores are within two miles, but the area is building new restaurants and other entertainment attractions, too. There are art classes offered by an extension of the Ringling Brothers University. The combination of water activities and artist interests is unparalleled.
