We are a family of four living in Cary, NC. Our favorite family activity is hiking. We travel near and far to visit national and state parks and various trails. Two kids have collected many Junior Ranger badges. As the kids grew older and got busier with schools and activities planning a long trip became less practical. We decided to find a place close enough for a weekend getaway. After a long period of searching, we found our first vacation home, Joy Ranch Cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains which we were able to share with others while not occupying it, for them to wind down, get refreshed, recharged, reunited with friends, family, and mother nature, and to find their true selves.
Then we came across Million-Dollar View, a place to soak in stillness and embrace the grandeur of landscape and an experience to share with our aging parents, relatives, and friends with physical constraints who could only see the depicted scenery in images
On a crisp autumn morning, I was busy raking leaves while my boy picked up fallen twigs. The valleys below were veiled in a delicate blanket of mist. A falcon with its wings outstretched effortlessly navigating the sky and carving its presence in the boundless expanse. “We’ve walked miles and miles of trails just to get a view like this. Next time we should come here instead.” My boy murmured while staring at the vibrant foliage in hues of red, orange, and gold. I turned around and followed his gaze: “life is a journey, the experiences and moments along the way are more rewarding than just reaching a particular endpoint.” In the distance, the falcon stopped momentarily, suspended in the air, then dived down into the valley, turning from a distinct shape into a tiny dot against the vast landscape…
