No Water, No Shower/Toliet...No Ceiling Fan, No Sleep

It is a very old building, so we understood that it wouldn't be perfect. It was so hot the first night, which was beyond their control. That said, the only way to cool the place was a couple of propped open windows and the ceiling fans. And, the ceiling fan above the bed had blades that were so warped, it wouldn't turn. We thought that it was just broken, but after trying get get it turning, we realized that there was a LOT of heat coming from the motor. It was literally seized by the warping of the blades. If I hadn't turned it off, it would have caught fire. That was the first night. Second night, they had an issue in another room and shut off the water to the entire building. It was off from the time we got to our room, until we left the next morning for a 12 hour drive. It sucked! It would have been really nice to at least have the Managemet reach out to us to check on things, but not a whisper. Not a great stay! Hope they get it together.

Great location

This unique inn is in the perfect location for exploring Georgetown. It is close to 150 years old and we enjoyed the authentic vibe. The host was very responsive and made sure our stay was pleasant. I’d love to come back and visit again.

This property is being redone but can tell when it’s finished it’s gonna be amazing. Loved the rooms! Close to everything in town and quick 20 min drive to the resorts so can’t beat it !

Why they chose this property

Established in 1859 as one of the greatest Silver Mining Camps in Colorado. In 1875, the population of Georgetown was 3,500. Around the corner the Hotel de Paris opened the same year as the St James Inn, then a 23 room brothel. Over the years the Inn became a hostel, bar and grill, hotel, mercantile building and most recently the Dusty Rose Tea Room.

The town of Georgetown sits at an elevation of 8,530 feet (2,600 m) above sea level, nestled in the mountains near the upper end of the valley of Clear Creek in the mountains west of Denver along Interstate 70. The historic downtown was used as the location for the filming of a scene from the 1978 movie Every Which Way But Loose starring Clint Eastwood. The made-for-TV movie The Christmas Gift, starring John Denver, was filmed in Georgetown in 1986. There are a variety of festivals and events held in Georgetown each year and the Colorado Central Railroad, Guenella Pass and Georgetown Lake are always great experiences!
