Wonderful villa in a picturesque location
We had a very good stay in Barbados at the Crow's Nest. The property manager, Gillian, and the housekeeper Cecily were very friendly and helpful. The Crow's Nest has a well appointed kitchen and we made full use of it, as we like to cook. The pool was lovely, and the view of the ocean was fantastic. The house itself is very nice, and there were lots of helpful books and magazines. We actually were there during Hurricane Beryl, which luckily missed the island by 80 miles. Nevertheless, Gillian and Cecily made sure that the windows got boarded up prior to the storm, so we were safe. The one advice that I would give travelers is to bring your own shampoo and conditioner as that was not supplied. Additionally, if you plan to cook, you should plan to buy some of the essentials right away - coffee, tea, sugar, oil, salt etc.

AMAZING
We had an wonderful stay at Crow’s Nest. The house is beautiful and the view is stunning. It’s even better than the pictures. The master bedroom was simply gorgeous. Cecily is a lovely lady and we enjoyed having her take care of the house and we had Beverley come and cook some beautiful meals. I’d highly recommend this rental. Barbados is a beautiful island.

Truly Exceptional!
My wife and I couldn't have been more pleased with the owner, property manager and this stunning property itself. We utilize VRBO as we travel throughout the world and the experience with this property was unequaled. Photos don't do it justice and it was the cleanest we've ever stayed in. Jenny, the owner, and her local property manager were absolutely fabulous throughout the entire process. We always try to stay away from the tourist areas, but close enough to occasionally imbibe, and this location was perfect. We were able to really get a sense of living right in the community, instead of being sheltered from the local lifestyle. You learn a lot about local culture from shopping in local supermarkets and other stores, and this experience was no exception. Went on frequent walks in the safe neighborhood and enjoyed visiting with some of the friendly neighbors. This vacation was one of the best we've had, in large part, having stayed at the Crow's Nest.

Perfection
What a wonderful house in a beautiful part of Barbados. Everything is top notch - a kitchen with all the supplies we could need, beautifully appointed rooms with amazing views out to sea, a lanai you never want to leave, and the charming housekeeper, Cecily, whose attention to detail ensured that this amazing home stayed that way. We can't wait to return.

Cliff top paradise
What a wonderful experience! The owner was quick to respond to all communications and incredibly helpful. The photos are accurate but don’t do the property justice. There is a magical feel to Crow’s Nest, part dramatic vista and part superbly comfortable family home. It’s exceptionally well equipped, spacious and functional, everything worked well. The housekeeper, Cecily, kept everything impeccable from the luxurious freshly laundered towels and linens to the beautiful cream marble floors. The house made the most of the prevailing breeze but there were plenty of sheltered areas on the terrace. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here. Especially as there’s a great selection of nearby places to visit if you can drag yourself away from the glorious Crow’s Nest.

fantastic house on the cliff
we spent beautiful holidays in Crow‘s Nest. The house is fantastic, the housekeeper very nice. Located on top of the of the cliff, we had spectacular views on the atlantic ocean. Maintainance is very good, the staff extremely friendly. The neighborhood is quiet and nice, 5 minute drve to supermarket, 10 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes to the Kitesurf beach.. Because there is more wind on the atlantic coast, it is abit noisy, but the noise of wind and waves did not bother us at all. Therefore the starting planes from the airport were absolutely no problem and we had very few mosquitos also. Absolute recommendation, 5 stars. Thanks a lot for the great time we spent there.

Delightful house overlooking the rugged Atlantic
The Atlantic East coast is much less developed than the more developed south or west coasts. The sea tends to be wilder so not ideal for young or inexperienced swimmers. But we absolutely love this coast. The house is a delight. All of the supporting staff were very helpful.

Perfect slice of Heaven
Our words to you ~ Crow's Nest is your splash of heaven on earth! To start, try to wake early. You will be overwhelmed by the sunrise from the lanai as it rises to your cliff off the Atlantic Ocean. The beauty is to behold. The warmest days can be cooled by the near constant breeze of the trade-winds in this airy home. If that doesn't provide you with the cooling that you desire, then dip into the meticulous pool. When night falls, you have many ways to relax with the inviting rooms, if you are staying at home. A true joy is having a delicious dinner prepared by Shelly & Eddy in your kitchen. The personality of the island is certainly expressed thru them, the food, the preparation and their laugh! Our holiday ~ When Jenny opened her home to us, Lynn took over and provide the most relaxing, spacious home to enjoy our getaway! The words above is a description, but the expressions that we felt during our stay cannot be put into words.

Stunning Ocean Property
A beautiful ocean location, quiet little street and a gorgeous villa. Would highly recommend to friends and family, as well as return ourselves (hopefully very soon). Close to the airport (but not too close!), lovely cooling breeze, fantastic maid, excellent recommendations and local information. Stunning big rooms, especially the master suite.

A slice of paradise - quiet, secluded and private
Jenny and Clare have created a beautiful house, superbly located on the cliff with panoramic 180 degree views of the sea. The garden is stunning, with a wide variety of cacti and aloe plants as well as palms. The pool is refreshing and clean and there are lots of places to catch the sun or recline in the shade as you wish. The house keeper, Cecilie is a gem - warm, friendly and unobtrusive. The house is well located - the sea breeze keeps mosquitos away and provides respite from the hot sun. Local beaches are lovely and almost deserted, and it's not too far to head off to the 'platinum coast'.

A Great Vacation!
Crows Nest in Barbados exceeded our expectations. The home is gorgeous and very well maintained not to mention the view is stunning of the ocean. The sound of the waves will relax you from the moment you arrive. Cecily the house keeper treats the home and guests like it was her own home and family. The hospitality and warmth of the islanders is exceptional. We rented a car and got around the island with ease. The restaurants we went to were (Cutters, Berts, Champers and McBrides) and the food was very good. The Emerald Grocery store was also very convenient for stocking the kitchen. We visited the Harrison Caves, St. Nicholas Abbey - Great rum samples, The Flower Forrest, the Raggedy Light House, Sam Lords Castle - Great beaches here, Bathsheba - See the very cool mushroom rocks. The beaches were clean with beautiful scenery. The warm sand is soft white and pink. We could not have asked for better weather for our vacation. We had a outstanding vacation and will be back at Crows Nest and Barbados in the future. Only next time we will stay longer than a week. Thanks Barbados, your hospitality is definitely underrated! Sincerely, Lee Czerwonka Mayor, City of Blue Ash, Ohio

pure utopia
My husband and I spent 8 wonderful days here with my brother and his girlfriend. As I had never been to Barbados, I did not know what to expect except for the photos on vrbo. Whatever my expectations were, this gorgeous place outdid them tenfold! Beautiful, meticulously designed, comfortable, so clean you could eat off the floor, views of the Atlantic spectacular with cooling breezes,....I could go on and on! Cecily the housekeeper was sweet and so very kind...and very efficient. I cried when we had to leave and she gave me a big hug. We will definitely be back one day! Thank you, Jenny, for the use of your beautiful house.

Pure Magic
We had a wonderful trip to Crow's Nest over the March/ Spring break. We are already trying to squeeze another trip in before the end of the year. The view is breathtaking and you, truly, never get tired of gazing out over it from the house. We kept the doors and windows open and never used the AC but just listened to the sound of the sea and were cooled by the constant breeze off the water. We have two children (11 and 12) and they spent most of their house time in the pool. The information in the house was very useful and we spent our time between Crane Bay Beach and Miami Beach. On the advice of Stoutes (Lynn) we had a wonderful dinner at Cafe Luna. Jenny, the owner, was really pleasant to deal with and Stoutes made sure everything was in order. The house is exactly as it appears in the photo's, if not better. Cecily keeps it sparkling clean and is delightful and helpful. It is equipped with everything you could need and is beautifully designed and decorated. We felt immediately welcomed and it was easy to relax. We have rented houses in many places (this is our preferred way of going on vacation) and can say Crow's Nest rates top of our list. We hired a car and found the driving around very easy. Locals are friendly and easy going and we quickly got the hang of things. On a second trip we would make a point of stopping closer to Bridgetown for a larger supermarket to stock up. There are local facilities but the closer to the major city you get, the better your choice. We stayed local, and not the imports, with our purchases and we very happy. All round a vacation that was pure magic and we can't wait for a repeat.

Unforgettable stay
Me and my fiancé wanted to go to Barbados to share there some delightful holidays. We were looking for a nice villa with sea view, where we have a private time just together. After having looked through a lot of offers, we found finally the house of our dreams: Crow's Nest. We sent a mail to the owner to ask if it's available and got a quick reply, that it's free in the time where we wished to book it. We confirmed everything and were very excited to make holidays in this little peace of paradise. Before we arrived, we asked Jenny, the owner, some questions that were important for us. She always responded quickly and clearly so that all our questions were answered before we arrived. The best plan to reach the house, is to take a car directly at the airport. I guess it is also possible to do it somehow by bus, but with a car it's much easier and the way isn't difficult to find. At the day of our arrival the housekeeper welcomed us. We felt very comfortable from the beginning. The house looks much bigger than the pictures are able to show it. The housekeeper guide us though it and explained us how the security system works. Later we went outside to see the garden and enjoyed the view on the ocean. The house is directly located at the cliff so that you have free view on the Atlantic sea. The neighbour houses are not too close to the building so that you have a lot of privacy. Inside the house you have a very big kitchen that contains everything you need for cooking. A lot of different pans, muffin forms, cheese grater, juice squeezer...everything you need for preparing nice dishes. The fridge and the freezer offer a lot of space to store your food. The best idea is to put the food directly after your arrival from the supermarket in the fridge, 'cause even if the temperatur doesn't feel too hot, the food rots very quickly if you don't put it ASAP in the fridge (even rolls). All the other rooms are like in the description and completely satisfied our needs. The housekeeper arrived everyday to clean up the house. We were normally out of the house shortly after she entered because we planned a lot for each day. But when we came back home everything was very clean and tidied up. As a conclusion I would say that we definitely like to come back. Jenny was a perfect host and the house is a place, where you have to feel feel comfortable. Even if you will arrive with 6 persons, there is more than enough free space for each.

Beautiful Holiday by the Ocean
Our family of 4 stayed at Crow's Nest for 2 weeks in July. From the moment we arrived, we knew our stay would be fantastic. The house was as beautiful as the website pictures, even more so. The two bedrooms downstairs are large, comfortable and beautifully decorated, and the en-suite bathrooms were perfect for two young adults. The upstairs master bedroom was stunning - from the king sized sleigh bed, to the amazing double walk in shower with ocean views! Having come from "mosquito-land" we were prepared for bugs of all kinds; it was a pleasant surprise to see virtually none, and so we were able to open all the doors and shutters in the mornings to enjoy the ocean breezes. My favourite time of day was early in the morning, sitting out on the patio with a cup of coffee and enjoying the views of the ocean. Everything you need to cook a dinner was available in the kitchen, and I would definitely recommend having Margerite come in and cook for you, especially the first night you arrive. What a welcome to Barbados! The gardens are beautiful and full of interesting creatures, like anole lizards, "halloween" crabs, whistiling frogs and the occasional toad. If you are lucky enough to be here on a full moon night, you are in for a treat. Cecily was wonderful; very kind and helpful and a real pleasure to get to know. Nothing is really far away from this part of the island, although you will need a rental car to get to many tourist attractions. We did take a taxi to a few dinners and the price is very reasonable. There were many books and magazines in the house with recommendations for sightseeing and dining out. Cutters is only about 5 minutes away and has the island's best flying fish sandwiches and rum punch! The whole area around the house is very quiet and we always felt very secure at night. If you are planning a holiday in Barbados, we highly recommend renting Crow's Nest - it will meet and surpass any of your vacation needs. Our whole family agreed that we would love to come back!

Holiday at Crow's Nest February 2011
Crow's Nest is a beautiful, beautiful place, not only the position and design of the house but also the way it is furnished. We felt very much at home there, with details like the quality of the towels and the bedding making such a difference too. We cooked at home a number of evenings, and the kitchen was very well set up with everything we could have needed, and all really nice quality and easy to use. We also went out for dinner, and found that we could walk over to the Crane Resort (about 35 minutes), have drinks and dinner there and then get a taxi back, which was only about $20 Barbados. That gave us all the flexibility we could want as there are several restaurants over there. The area Crow's Nest is in is a residential one, with friendly local people around and 2 good supermarkets within a 5 minute drive, and lovely secluded gardens with total privacy and stunning views over the sea from every room. We struggled to find anything that you could improve really - Cecily, the maid, was a delight, so warm and easy going and just nice to have around, and she kept the house immaculately. Stoutes were also very helpful, not that we needed to call on them very much. We have raved to friends and family and recommended Crow's Nest to them wholeheartedly. Thank you again for giving us the chance to stay in your lovely home and if we get the opportunity to come back to Barbados, we will most definitely be returning to Crow's Nest.

Paradise Found
If your idea of a perfect vacation is a peaceful, beautiful place away from crowds then the Crow’s Nest is for you. This property was built in 2008 and has obviously been lovingly looked after by the owners who still visit Barbados from England often. We spent most of our time lounging in the shade by the pool overlooking the ocean. There was always a cool breeze blowing off the ocean so that we did not miss the air conditioning during the day. The bedrooms are air conditioned which made for very restful sleep between the cool room and the rhythmic sound of the waves crashing into the bottom of the cliff. Cecily will be your housekeeper and she is a dear soul, very patiently answering all the questions from us first time visitors. I have never had a maid before and it is certainly something I could get used to! Between the location, beautiful home, and Cecily’s care we all felt like royalty. There are a few minor drawbacks you should be aware of before booking this location. This house is not far from the airport so you do hear the planes taking off quite clearly (about 10 departures daily). The house is situated at the top of an 80 ft. cliff. There is no fence or barrier of any kind to prevent young ones from exploring too close to the edge of the cliff so the owners ask that all guests be at least 14 years old. I heartily concur with this restriction. Due to this height the off shore breeze occasionally became an off shore wind! You are far away from most restaurants and night life and will need to rent a car to get around the island. Finally, there are no beaches within walking distance of the Crow’s Nest. None of these things would prevent us from making a second trip to this lovely spot. The local Tri-Mart grocery store is well stocked and within walking distance. The adjacent bakery has great fresh salt bread after 3 PM and other delicious treats. The Emerald City grocery store is only about a 10 minute drive and has everything you could need. Several lovely beaches are within an easy driving distance such as Foul Bay, Long Bay, Crane Beach, and Bottom Bay. And last but certainly not least the breeze and the height of the cliff kept mosquitoes to a minimum, unless you fell asleep outside after dark! If you plan to stay at more than one rental property while visiting Barbados, make this your last stop. It would be very hard to beat the Crow’s Nest.

2 wks at Crows Nest - spectacular
After having found Crows Nest on our last visit to Barbados, we knew this is where we wanted to be for our destination wedding celebration. Crows Nest was Wedding Command Central. We hosted over 65 guests in nearby villas and at The Crane and loved the proximity of Crows Nest to all key areas (Best Beaches, The Crane, Airport, and our other villa rentals where we had our wedding celebration). Crows Nest is a modern, fully equipped, beautiful villa. It has everything you need and top notch amenities within (especially the high quality bath towels). The floor plan is open with constant ocean breezes, location on a point for stunning sunrises and moonlit ocean floor nights, and the superb bathrooms in every room made for Crows Nest the best place in St Philips to stay (and in our opinion on the entire island). Cecily, the house staff, keeps the villa spotless and is pleasant and was nonintrusive during our stay (matter of fact, she created a loved note out of flower petals that we found upon our return of our wedding day...how thoughtful!). The villa also offers a private entrance for 2 vehicles (1 of which is a covered garage). The pool is mostly shaded, more like a dipping pool 4ft deep...and provides stunning views out to the ocean. Crows Nest provides 4 chaise lounges for sunbathing, an outdoor table which seats 6, and an outdoor comfortable lounge for morning and evening relaxation. The kitchen has top notch appliances (including a dishwasher). We recommend hiring in a cook to cater your dining experience...most cooks can be found for food prep, service, and clean up for around $35 US + tip (groceries excluded). The house offers a stereo system which includes a dock for your MP3 and IPOD connection along with a CD player. There is also a tv and DVD player in the back room, but we did not use it once in the 2 wks we were there (nice to know it's there if we wanted). Ron Stoute manages the property and are there at your every need (if needed). Thank you Jenny & Sylvan for opening your home away from home to us! We'll be back! P.S. For families, I'd only recommend this villa for non walking babies/toddlers or for kids over 14...or those who offer constant supervision as Crows Nest sits on a cliff.

Time out
This was a week when re re-charged our run down batteries in total privacy and great comfort. The view over the rolling Altantic waves is hypnotic and, for example, anyone who loves the North Cornish coast but who craves a warm breeze instead of England's icy gales will find that Crows Nest ticks absolutely all the boxes. The house is beautifully designed, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable to live in; you do need a car but then the rest of the Island is easily accessible. For exercise, you might chose between an invigorating walk along the East Coast, perhaps paddling amongst the breakers crashing into Foul bay; and a lazy sail on the West Coast, meandering past idyllic palm-fringed beaches and stopping to swim with turtles along the way. Or we went sightseeing up towards the North of the Island, driving through beautiful fertile valleys full of mango, avocado, breadfruit, sugar cane and strange but wonderful vegetables whose names we cannot remember; then stopping off to visit Harrison's caves (160 feet under and still 78 degrees warm) with their incredible stalactites and stalagmites. On another day we went to Codrington College, approaching down its classic palm tree-lined avenue, visiting the chapel and then wandering through the peaceful gardens full of frangipani and flamboyant trees, where we picked up shack shack pods from the ground, nature's ready-made maracas. The best daytime and very local eaterie/delicatessen without doubt was Cutters (which also does an amazing rum punch) where we had lunch a couple of times; and the nicest evening meal that we had, not just because of its idyllic location right on the beach but also becasue the food is extremely good, was at the Lone Star restaurant in St James, on the West Coast. We now want our batteries to run down again soon so that we will have an excuse to return to Crow's Nest!

Escape from it all
Paul and I had a wonderful break away from it all at The Crow's Nest. The location, so close to (yet seemingly so far from) the airport felt really private. Everything was just as it had been described - beautifully furnished and decorated and immaculately clean. There was a welcome letter to greet us on arrival giving details of who to contact should we need anything extra or require more information on places to go or things to do. We thoroughly enjoyed just having time to 'chill out' and admire the view. Friends who came over to visit loved the quiet, peacefulness of it all. Didn't do much dining out but would thoroughly recommend 'Zen' at The Crane which is a short drive away or 'Champers' which is about 25 minutes drive. Would highly recommend to people who want to have the best of both worlds - peace and quiet or, a short drive away, all the nightlife of the South Coast.
