A perfect getaway
We loved the screened in porch. It was perfect for quiet summer nights. And the A/C inside was a much needed break from the heat. House is very well maintained and there were no bugs inside! Made a campfire one night and cooked on the grill another. Will come back

Very Charming Cabin and Excellent Host
We loved the cabin, very comfortable and charming. The screened porch outside was excellent and we spent most of our time there. The road noise was a little higher than we expected but not bad. Also, there was a kids camp across the creek bed that provided happy sounds but it was a little noisy at times. Finally, the creek was a bit on the dry side though I suspect that it was seasonal as many of the water features we observed in the area were low. Wardensville was a nice quiet little town that was fun to visit. Overall, a nice, relaxing getaway with an excellent host!

This property was everything it said it was, and so much more! Everyone in my Family enjoyed themselves and though intimate, there is plenty of private space to relax and have a quiet moment. We will always make reservations at this location when visiting Hardy County, absolutely wonderful. Gayle, the Host, delivered!! Everything was PERFECT!

Amazing Labor Day
This house is amazing and Gayle was so helpful and quick to answer any questions. We had so much fun at this property. The beds are very comfortable and the house is just adorable. Everything you cold possibly need was there. We have family in Wardensville so we already knew about many of the places to go and see but it was so neat that was all there for new comers. I really can’t say how much we enjoyed our stay and hope to do it again.

Relaxing
We stayed in this area to motorcycle ride and it did not disappoint at all. There’s not much in the area so prepare to have food at the house which we had and the house was perfect for gathering back at the end of the day. Home was well stocked, cozy and had everything we needed. The host was easy to reach and answered questions quickly. We all enjoyed the stay and didn’t want to leave.

WV getaway
Our entire experience from initial rental process to actual stay at cabin was phenomenal. The host was quick to respond to our reservation request and provided us with clear instructions for check in/check out. The location of the cabin is so peaceful and magical with the stream running alongside the screened in porch. The cabin was quaint and decorated beautifully with antiques. There would be plenty of room for two couples plus kids. The bed we slept in was very comfortable. The hosts provided everything we could possibly need. There are so many outdoors things to do in the surrounding area and we went hiking on several trails with breathtaking views…Half Moon Mountain, Big Schloss, and Cranny Crow Overlook to name a few. If you are looking for a secluded getaway to relax and unwind this is the place. It is absolutely AMAZING!!!

Comfortable cabin for a relaxing getaway
The cabin was comfortable and well stocked. The screened porch overlooking the stream was a highlight. It was chilly while we were there so we took advantage of the fire pit, which was well supplied with wood. We even got to enjoy a nest of eastern phoebe chicks just outside the porch. The Lost River Trading Post in Wardensville had a remarkable selection of interesting decorative items, and the hiking in the area was excellent.

Relaxing, open space
I stayed at the cabin for a week to disconnect. My first impression is that it was way bigger and a bit darker inside than I expected. My favorite things about the house include that it's by a river, the big screened in porch, the large amount of property and how the sun shines down in the middle of the yard, the hammock, and the new knives in the kitchen! The cabin is a nice short drive from town. Gayle was wonderful at communicating with us as needed.

Peaceful Retreat
My family really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was much larger then I pictured. There was plenty of space to play together or find a separate area to relax. There is a nice table to eat inside but we never used it. The screened in porch was too nice. It really kept out the bugs and rain. Plus the fan right over the porch table made it comfortable even in the heat. The cabin has a well stocked kitchen. She even supplied toliet paper, paper towels, and soap. There are plenty of inside and outside games. As others have stated the best part is the creek! It was perfect for wadding and playing in. When we were there the creek was gentle enough for our toddler while still being fun for our elementary student. I loved lounging on the screened porch listening to the creek. Gayle was great at communicating. She helped us prepare for our trip and kept us up to date on happenings in town. We took the horse back riding trip and a hike she recommended. They were some of our favorite activities. The upstairs is quite large with a loft and separate bedroom with two twin beds. It's easily the biggest room. However, the spiral staircase leading up is pinch scary even for adults. Our adventures toddler freaked out on the third stair. This area is best used for grade schoolers or teenagers.

Great Getaway outside of Wardensville
We had a lovely time at the Cabin At Trout Run. The property was clean, large, and well stocked (seriously we found a potato masher when we needed it). The location can't be beat; my daughter had a great time catching minnows and crayfish. Even in the heat, the cabin is shady and the AC works. And there's always the creek. We had a good time grilling and making treats around the fire pit. Would 100% recommend to a friend, and we took a couple brochures. The town of wardensville is also lovely--worth the trip, and it's only 2 hours outside of DC. Hoping we get to go back sometime next year in the fall or the year after. Thank you Gayle!
