About this property

Authentic Fairbanks log house with bathroom, kitchen, and screened front porch

Hand built log cabin less than 5 miles from Fairbanks and Ester, 8 miles from Fairbanks International airport and an easy 22 miles on the highway to Santa Claus House and downtown North Pole. Very convenient location for visiting the Fairbanks area. The house has a queen size bed and a sofa . Upstairs is an enclosed loft. Less than 5 minutes up the road is a nice hiking trail that can take you all the way to Ester Dome. The village of Ester offers the Golden Eagle Saloon where you can meet friendly locals and grill your own burger. On your visit to Ester you will also pass the friendly log cabin Ester post office. About five minute drive to Fairbanks brings you to Lemongrass, one of Fairbanks' favorite Thai restaurants. There are also two convenience stores nearby (Ester Gas and Gold Hill gas station) as well as large grocery stores (about 6 miles) such as Safeway and Fred Meyer.

There is a nice bike path in front of the house that can take you to Ester or to Fairbanks. All of the Fairbanks area, especially the University of Alaska and its museum, is close by and the drive to Fairbanks is a short five minutes on the highway.

Downtown Fairbanks, Fairbanks Farmer's Market, Pioneer Park and many other Fairbanks tourist destinations are within 15 minute drive. A little longer drive will be to North Pole, Chena Hot Springs and Chatanika Lodge.

Quaint & Clean
The cabin is beautiful and perfect for 2 to 4 people. Very clean, owners messaged us saying the cabin was clean and where to find the keys. Definitely will be staying here again when we travel to Alaska in the future. Nice sized kitchen with stove, microwave, and full size fridge/freezer. Bathroom was a nice size and had a good sized shower. Perfect distance from Fairbanks. There was some noise from the road but not enough to disturb sleeping, mostly heard noise during the day.

Nice, clean cabin
We enjoyed our stay but had a little trouble with the road noise. The noise is pretty constant during the day but does reduce at night. The cabin was clean and the bed was comfortable. They have to bring in water (there was plenty when we were there) so they ask you to conserve water. We had no problem with that, but didn't know until we got there so that was a bit of a surprise. Never met the owners but the guestbook spoke positively of them. Overall, it was a nice stay.

Cute, rustic log cabin
Rod had the heat turned up ready for us when we got there. Cute cabin, complete accommodations - kitchen (with lots, pans, dinnerware, plates, everything needed) if you want to cook. Full size refrigerator, good size bathroom. We only stayed downstairs, but there is room for more people to sleep in the upstairs loft. Right by the road, could hear a big truck go by now and then, but did not hear “regular” vehicles. We visited with them during our visit, great visit and they are very friendly. Would stay here again, recommend this place.

Great cabin
Perfect cabin! Close to Fairbanks for easy/quick trips into town. Well built and quiet. Some reviews mentioned highway noise…this truly was not an issue for us. If the windows are closed, you will not hear anything. Would absolutely rent again in the future

About the host

My wife and I cleared the cabin lot by hand and built the cabin from logs we purchased from the Delta Junction area. We operated the cabin as a gift store during the summer for about 10 years selling the Alaska crafts we made as well as items from the surrounding villages. It took a lot of updating and changes to make it into a vacation rental but so far it's been successful.

Why they chose this property

Really good location to get around the Fairbanks area. I think it offers a unique Alaskan experience to stay in a real log cabin in the interior of Alaska.
