Could have been brilliant
This property is in a fabulous location if you want to explore the fairytale route in Hessen. It's really near to Witzenhausen and a big supermarket, and it's a super quiet and safe area.
Jessica, the owners friend, was wonderful. She greeted us and showed us in and was on call if we needed anything. She even bought us fresh bread rolls one morning. A really lovely person.
However, the property is not really ready to receive visitors. The main issue was the outside space - in a complete state of disrepair and utterly overgrown. It was not comfortable or safe to sit outside, which was such a shame in a heat wave and that being one of the reasons we booked this house.
The garden wilderness also meant that huge amounts of bugs and other "wildlife" constantly entered the property. Making for some very unpleasant evenings, and a LOT of mosquito bites.
The kitchen and bathroom were very clean and there were plenty of towels. But the kitchen had not ovenware to cook with, and the fridge pooled with water as soon as we put food in it, so the food went off quickly. The windows of the home were filthy which meant enjoying the excellent views was difficult. The upstair balcony was unsafe, leaning forward and with wobbling floor planks. The furnishings downstairs were tired and grubby and not smart, as pictured. And the upstairs bedding was "dubious".
We really wanted to love this home but we mostly enjoyed being out of it as it just wasn't a comfortable space to relax in. So sorry.
