This newly renovated, cozy cottage on pristine Bantam Lake is super-relaxing and perfect for kids of all ages. Guests have exclusive access to dock, waterslide and picnic area, along with 100-foot shoreline.. The cottage is second of three houses on same property. Children especially love this place for swimming, fishing and kayaking. The huge wraparound porch porch is perfect for family get-togethers. Modern kitchen and bathroom, wireless internet. Free parking. This is the middle cottage of three cottages on the property. My family stays in one of the cottages. Guests have unlimited access to the dock and waterfront area with picnic table and fire pit. The cottages can be rented together as a package for family reunions and other special events. Bantam/Litchfield is a picturesque area steeped in history. The nation's first law school was located in downtown Litchfield. The neighborhood offers a wide range of activities, including swimming, kayaking, biking, horseback riding, hiking. There is also a vibrant culinary scene with several highly acclaimed restaurants and artisan bakeries. Many guests say the ice cream, produced by local cows, is the best they have ever tasted.

My fiancé (now husband) and I stayed with our Bridal Party at Camp David while getting married in Morris, CT. The accommodations were perfect for such an event! We rented 3 of David’s cottages, which all share the same property and are just steps from Bantam Lake. David was very laid back and great at communicating and accommodating several of our needs. He has all of the amenities necessary for a weekend getaway on the Lake including BBQ supplies and equipment for several different water activities. He has a personal handy man that was quick to respond to and resolve a couple of minor concerns. He also offered to help us unload any belongings. We’re so appreciative of David for providing such hospitality and the perfect accommodations for our wedding weekend! We have memories to last a lifetime. Highly recommend!
My friends and I had a blast at this location! We couldn’t get enough of the wrap-around porch, we spent almost all of our time on it! From the dock to the kayaks, fun floats and fire pits, we had a great, great time. David was an amazing host, he even stopped by a local bakery and fruit stand and brought us fresh baked bread and peaches! He was friendly and very responsive! We loved everything about our stay, we will be back for sure!
We had a short stay due to bad weather but David was magnanimous as it related to our changing schedule.
The property allowed for us to enjoy great family-time and enjoy kayaking and exploring.
We will be back.
We had a wonderful time at Camp David! We've done a weekend with friends for years now and this was easily one of the best places we've stayed. We rented several of the houses and had plenty of space for our group to spread out. We spent our entire stay lakeside - hanging out, sitting by the firepit, swimming and grilling! David was easy to reach with any questions or concerns (even reset the wifi remotely one night).
Only caveat for future guests to note is that there are multiple cottages on the property that can be rented by other guests. We had two different families stay in the unoccupied house during our stay, both were very friendly and we had no issues coexisting on the property.
Our family rented this cottage along with the larger one so that we could gather together for a vacation. Being right on the lake was the best part of our experience, and the children (and adults) spent large portions of the day swimming, kayaking, and fishing. The enclosed porch enabled us to gather in larger groups. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen and bathroom were adequately furnished. The surrounding area is full of hiking paths and great eating experiences. David made sure that we had whatever we needed. It was great - and unique - to have all of those activities in one place!

About the host

I am an immigration lawyer based on Long Island. My family first visited Bantam Lake in 2012, and we fell in love with the gorgeous surroundings.
Why they chose this property
I purchased this property after coming here every summer since 2013. I've never been to such a peaceful and relaxing surrounding, especially for families with younger children. Everything is natural, from the beautiful lake and trails to the incredible selection of artisan foods and fine restaurants.
What makes this property unique
Incredibly tranquil, even during peak summer months. About half the lake's shoreline is owned by a conservation trust, which prohibits commercial and residential development. Great for relaxing, swimming and water sports, fire pit and outdoor barbecue.
