About this property
4 ensuite bedrooms in beautiful winegrowers house
Our newly renovated, bright and spacious rental is on the first floor of an old winemaker's house, situated in the picturesque village of Montouliers, in the heart of the sunny wine-growing region of the Minervois, in the South of France.
There is plenty to do visiting nearby restaurants, local markets, quaint villages, historic sites or enjoying a day on one of the nearby Mediterranean beaches.
The village has interesting cycling, walking and horse-riding right on its doorstep with many local vineyards for wine tasting
The house itself is full of character with its exposed wooden beams and high ceilings and has been sensitively renovated using reclaimed furniture (apart from the high end comfy beds!) It boasts large sunny rooms and a south-facing garden with use of a barbecue. Our four en-suite bedrooms are all situated on the first floor along with a communal kitchen, dining room and lounge with fabulous views of fields and vines. There is free WIFI and a cupboard of games and books. The basement provides your private access from the south facing garden with patio and barbecue, 2 parking spaces and a huge garage available for storage of bikes and games such as Jenga, darts and a football table.
Montouliers, situated between the mountains and the Mediterranean, is a charming village with winding cobbled lanes, known as 'la Calade' which lead up to the 12th Century château and church. There is also a Roman fountain at the edge of the village and three domaines, where wine tasting is available.
In the village itself is a small grocery/restaurant/bar/post office. The village is a beautiful 5 minute drive through pine forests to Bize-Minervois, with its restaurants, bars, supermarket and river, perfect for a dip as it has a life guard during the summer months. We are also only 5 minutes from the Canal de Midi at La Croisade, with its canal-side restaurant. Narbonne, famous for its covered market, is less than 30 minutes by car as is the beautiful village of Minerve and the UNESCO World Heritage City of Carcassonne is less then an hour away. A number of Mediterranean beaches can be reached in about 40 – 45 minutes and the Spanish border is 1.5 hours away.
The closest airports are Béziers, Carcassonne, Perpignan and Montpellier - all roughly an hour away

About the host
Hosted by Natalie Shaw
We moved from the Alpine resort of Tignes for a slightly quieter life in the sunny south with our son, born in 2018
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this beautiful old winegrower's house as soon as we saw it! It has beautiful features such as wooden beams, high ceilings and cobbles in the basement. It is light and bright and has a wonderful, secluded south-facing garden.
What makes this property unique
The south facing garden was a real draw - behind the house with views of rolling fields and vineyards. A perfect peaceful spot for a glass of wine or a BBQ
