About this property

Characterful Cottage near Port Isaac & Polzeath - Fibre Wifi.

Ruffcott is a charming cottage with a big windowed wood burner and connected to fibre broadband, located just a mile or two from some fabulous beaches and 12 minutes from Port Isaac and 20 from Polzeath. Rock and Daymer a few minutes further. For walkers, the dramatic coastal footpath and the wilds of Bodmin Moor are nearby. In an excellent location for touring, there are many NT houses and gardens within easy reach including the renowned Eden project. Shops and pubs within 1 mile.

Trebarwith Strand beach is nearby with 2 great pubs and shops. Surfing and body boarding are popular with lifeguards in the Summer. Tregardock is nearer and totally unspoilt so you'll need to take a picnic.

The cottage is fully equipped with 2 DVD players and Firesticks and most important - the WiFi has fibre broadband direct to the cottage, giving speeds of 55mb/s.

Central heating is provided through storage heaters which come on several times a day.

A big windowed wood burner provides even more heat and of course entertainment. You might want to turn the storage heating down if you don't like being roasted.

We are most popular with couples and small families. The cottage is an escape but is also well connected to the world if you want to be.

Beautiful cottage in a very pretty, peaceful village.
We really loved our week in this lovely cottage. We felt at home immediately and loved the comfy lounge room and the kitchen was very well fitted out with everything one needs, including a dishwasher and a washing macnine. Maybe could have used a clothes drying rack. Bedrooms were upstairs and very comfortable again. The whole house stayed warm,. There was parking for one car but it is a bit of a squeeze but it does get athe car off the road. The cottage is in a very quiet little tiny village, it is so peaceful and lovely walks can be done right out the front door. There is a fabulous pub in a very nearby village called St Teath’s. We walked to The White Hart pub one evening. Fab! The cottage is so well situated to visit many places in Cornwall. Loads in easy reach. A great area for exploring. We would readily return to this great cottage next time we are the area.

Ideal for a restful break
The cottage was quirky and comfortable. It had everything we needed and was close to all the places we wanted to visit. Even with an adventurous 11-month-old it was an ideal retreat. Steven was an attentive host and the cottage was well supplied so we didn't need to worry about everyday items such as washing and dishwashing. The kitchen was small but well equipped. Thnak you Steven :)

Beautiful cottage, would stay again
Stephen was really helpful during the booking process and whilst there, he checked in on us to see how we were getting on which was a lovely touch. The cottage was beautiful and really clean and tidy when we arrived. The beds were some of the most comfortable we have ever stayed in. The fireplace was a lovely and we enjoyed using it in the evenings. Cute little kitchen and having a dishwasher was great as we cooked most evenings to save money on going out every night. Lovely touches of board games there which we enjoyed playing as a family. TV downstairs and in 1 of the bedrooms was great and could access Netflix and you tube which with a teenager in tow was handy. Great location near by to most of the major tourist places in North Cornwall. Trebawith strand beach was a 10 minute drive and was stunning with a lovely little cafe there. We would definitely book this cottage again and will recommend

Lovely stay in a lovely property.
Ruffcott was absolutely delightful. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cosy place. Its well located with many towns a short car journey away or you can enjoy pleasant walks with access to footpaths very close by. The owner was very informative, providing us with all the information we needed to ensure we visited wonderful beaches and great pubs. We recommend this property to a couple or small family that likes a quiet location but doesn't mind a short drive to busier places. Thank you

a quirky cottage
An attractive cottage in a small hamlet outside Delabole. The cottage is well equipped and the owner very helpful, particularly prior to our stay. There are quite a few things that need to be repaired at the cottage and due to the weather at times we struggled to get things dry as the cottage was rather damp. But this did improve in our second week when the sun came out! The outside space is rather disappointing (a small area under some trees opposite the house and next to where you park the car) and the parking itself ( up a small ramp) is not for the faint hearted. However, the location is peaceful and near lots of great beaches. Thanks Steven for the tip about Tregadock - it was beautiful.

Perfect location for north Cornwall
Loved this atmospheric, cosy cottage tucked away near Delabole. Only 5 mins from the main A39 road but perfectly secluded in a small valley. Clean and comfortable, with a small but well equipped kitchen. Quiet and peaceful in the evenings. Both we and our early rising young boys appreciated the Amazon Firestick! Large collection of DVDs for film buffs too. Ruffcott is in a perfect location for the beaches near Padstow, just a 20 min drive away. Owners had a couple of great recommendations for other less well-known beaches too. Overall a great experience, would definitely recommend.

Quaint Cottage
Ruffcott is a beautiful little cottage, very well equipped and was perfect for our needs for a couple of days away. It has everything you need. Plenty to see and do in the area (although the roads are not for the faint-hearted). Loved it.

Excellent value. Well equipped. Lovely old character cottage. A bit off the beaten track but not too far to some great beaches and other attractions. Lounge lighting was a bit idiosyncratic and we never did manage to get the one over the dining table to work.

A wonderful stay in Cornwall
We had an amazing week in Cornwall at this property. A cosy 2 bedroom cottage provided the perfect base for us as we love Trebarwith Strand beach and it was only a short drive. We only had one rainy day and it was lovely to have such a nice base to be able to spend some time. A bottle of wine greeted us which was a surprise and the handy hints around the property made navigating how everything worked nice and easy. Would definitely recommend!

Perfect Getaway
We had the most amazing time in North Cornwall. Lovely walks, great beaches and pubs. We were often so exhausted that coming back to this lovely cottage was always a real treat. The kids loved the extensive dvd collection and of course the fibre wifi. We loved the tranquillity and charm of the cottage. We just wish it was a bit colder so we could use the wood burner. Don't expect hotel type rooms but do expect a clean characterful cottage carefully looked after by Steven and Polly. We appreciated their help at all stages; from the booking process to their suggestions of places and beaches to visit. Would highly recommend!

A nice, little and cosy cottage
The cottage was clean and homely. Equipment was not super modern, but it is more than sufficient and allows you to cook wherever your heart desires. The cottage is located in a small hamlet, so you need to drive to get to the nearest shop or pub. The roads surrounding the cottage are typical for the region, and you need to backtrack if a car comes your way. For some reason, a few huge tractors and trucks were storming up and down the road all day long, but otherwise, the traffic was relatively low. Overall we had a very good stay in this cottage.

A lovely cottage with lots of character.
A great location for exploring the coves and beaches of North Cornwall. The cottage was a perfect size for us and our two young children and had plenty of kids DVD's to keep them entertained. It was absolutely spotless and the bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch.

About the host

Hosted by Steven Kelynack

Host profile image
We are Steven and Polly Kelynack. We bought Ruffcott in 2003 and have had many fabulous times here with our daughter and friends.

Being Cornish with a very Cornish name we have always had an affinity with Cornwall, with family roots all over Cornwall down to the town of Kelynack near Land's End.

Why they chose this property

The cliff walks, the drama of the weather, the surfing, beautiful beaches - these are just a few of the attractions of North Cornwall.

It is closer to London than most of Cornwall being only 4 hours away. It's an hour from Exeter, and 2 hours from Bristol.

What makes this property unique

Trebarwith Strand is our favourite Beach just 10 minutes away. Tregardock beach and Polzeath are also close by.

The charming fishing village of Port Isaac is very close.

There are fabulous Summer and Easter classical concerts at St Endellion Church.

There are golf clubs in the cottage which you can use at any of the numerous courses nearby.
