High in the Devon hills above the Taw/Torridge estuaries Webbery Manor Estate is an oasis of rural tranquillity. Steeped in history and with several noteworthy owners, Webbery Manor Estate was first mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It was given to Nicholas the Crossbowman, by a grateful William the Conqueror as a Saxon manor. In the 17th century it passed to the Lippincott family, one of whom set sail with the Mayflower flotilla to settle in America. In the 18th century, John Cutcliffe, the grandson of the owner, fought at the battle of Waterloo and was personally promoted by the Duke of Wellington.
Set in 45 acres of parkland and woods, with a variety of wild mushrooms and grazing sheep; deer, owls ( tawny, little and barn ) pheasants, various birds of prey and other wildlife are regularly sited. The delightful gardens have numerous specimen trees and banks of rhododendrons giving a spectacular spring display.. Espaliered fruit trees and cut flowers are grown in 2 walled kitchen gardens alongside vegetables including Romanesco, Cavelo Nero, and Pink Fir Apple potatoes to name a few. A wide range of tomatoes are cultivated in 3 greenhouses and the kitchen produce is complimentary subject to season and availability.
The lively market towns of Appledore and Bideford make an excellent day out, with a weekly market and working harbours. With so many pubs and restaurants to choose from in Appledore, Bideford, Barnstaple and Instow, why not treat yourself to a meal out before heading home? Fishing and horse riding can be found within 5 miles. Shops and pubs 5 miles with RHS Rosemoor about 15 minutes drive away.

The whole experience was totally relaxing and the cottage is lovely.
The whole experience was totally relaxing and the cottage is lovely. It was good to have proper cutlery, plates and glasses in a rental cottage and overall it was well really well equipped. The log burner and plentiful supply of logs made coming back from the local beach walks something to look forward to. Katy and her husband were so accommodating and friendly and visits to the walled vegetable gardens resulted in some lovely meals. Overall a fantastic setup with amazing countryside and beaches close by for dog walks. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

A wonderful experience
We have stayed in self catering accommodation all over the world. This quiet, dignified property in a beautiful setting comes top or near to the top of the list. Nothing has been spared in making this a wonderful, extremely well equipped place to be. From provision of beautiful kitchen equipment to lovely grounds with kitchen gardens providing fresh vegetables to pick for each meal. This area of Devon has much to enjoy even in December/January. We visited many places like Lynton with memories from years ago but, above all, it is the never ending variety of beaches that really leaves you feeling overawed. Miles of sand... we and the dog enjoyed all of it and we were surrounded by families doing the same. If you are wondering where to stay this is the place - a wonderful, luxurious bolthole in a fabulous area. The owners are not only friendly but also very attentive without being in any way intrusive. We found daffodils and lambs which focused us on the coming of Spring...

Lovely place to stay, clean, comfortable and warm.
Lovely place to stay, clean, comfortable and warm. Very peaceful, lots of places to walk the dog. You need a car as no local shops, nearest is Tesco about 10 minute drive. WiFi good and mobile signal better than at home. A welcome pack of Milk, Wine and home made scones, plus tea, coffee, sugar, herbs/spices, salt pepper also provided. There's a walled vegetable garden where quests can help themselves to fruit and veg if available. Would definitely recommend, especially if looking to escape from everyday routines. Bideford, Instow, Ilfracombe and Westward Ho all within easy driving distance.

A great place to stay.
A great place to stay. The Webbery Estate as a whole is lovely and very well kept; with beautiful gardens. The Linhay was a great property on the estate to stay in and is a real home from home; clean, well appointed, spacious and a real pleasure to spend time in just relaxing. The location is great for exploring North Devon and cannot recommend highly enough.

Magical Place, really friendly owners, lovely home made scones, and a bonus to be able to pick a veg/salad from owners garden. Great beaches within 1/2 hour, Instow, Croyde and saunton Sands, Barnstaple town worth a visit, 10 mins from Supermarket. Very peaceful and was visited by a friendly cat. On a wish list a second shower fitted above bath would be welcome. Brilliant week and Sun shone all week.

The property was really cosy, clean and bright, we received a warm welcome with some very good homemade scones and wine. It was good to have the log burner on the last few evenings. Enjoyed walking in the grounds and the tennis courts are great. Will probably return again.
