Fran’s Cottage is a semi-detached property situated directly on the picturesque harbour, in the centre of this pretty Cornish fishing village. The cottage has its own quiet patio to enjoy the evening sun. You can enjoy local sea fishing trips, and hopefully catch the evening’s feast for the barbecue. Mevagissey is the perfect destination for that traditional family holiday, with its narrow lanes full of galleries, craft shops, bars and cafés, that meander down to the working harbour. Take some time to stroll around and browse for gifts, or soak up the atmosphere in the village pubs. Mevagissey has several restaurants that provide fresh seafood dishes, and you can buy local produce from the various farm shops that surround the village. Being on the south coast, Mevagissey is perfectly placed to visit many of the attractions in the area, including some picturesque beaches, such as Pentewan, Caerhays and Port Mellon. There are also many beautiful gardens, including the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the world famous Eden project, and Caerhays Castle and Garden. With superb sandy beaches, vineyards, historic Charlestown, the setting for the recent Poldark TV drama, and the Roseland Peninsula, all nearby, there is no shortage of things to do or see in this dramatic part of Cornwall. An off-road cycle and walking trail with cycle hire can be found at nearby Pentewan, which you can follow into the town of St Austell.
