About this property

Minutes To The Caves; 5+ Acres, Wi-fi, Hot Tub, Grill, Fire Pit, Pet Friendly!

Welcome to Valley Ridge Cabin!

**UPDATE -Pandemic** As of July 29th, 2020, for your safety I decided to ask all renters to bring their own bedding supplies as well as towels and washcloths. Since that date, I no longer have access to a laundry service that is able to take care of providing those clean linens. Please understand that I would like to provide this service, but I am unable to. Thus, you’ll need to plan on bringing your own. I do apologize for this.

*** Please read this entire description before booking, and feel free to ask me any questions you might have! ***

I have had some recent complaints regarding a few items so please read the following info prior to booking. Your booking this cabin acknowledges that you have read and understand the information contained in this ad.

This RUSTIC cabin is located in a wooded and grassy area. There are bugs and there are spiders and there are other furry critters in the area. The cabin is typically cleaned on a Monday after folks check out. The cleaning service has an hour round trip travel time, so it is likely it won’t be “freshened up” immediately prior to your arrival if you come later in the week. Please expect there to be a sign of activity of these bugs and spiders and other pests in this natural wooded area.

The lawn service might not always be able to mow or trim weeds directly prior to your arrival. Many factors such as rain, wooded property access, and land topology play into this. This is not a metropolitan or town location. If you are expecting that, understand you might be disappointed and won’t receive a refund.

Sometimes, a window might fail to lock. However, all main entry doors are secure and have locks on them. We have never had a security incident since we began cabin rentals in 2012. I have had many, many very happy customers. Many folks come back to each of my locations each and every season. However, a few have not been happy due to the items listed above. Please be sure you understand the above information before choosing to stay here.

This simple cabin is located on 5 scenic acres to allow hiking, campfires, grilling out, or taking a nice soak in the relaxing hot tub! It is located near South Bloomingville, OH, just minutes from Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Conkle's Hollow, and many other local attractions.

Plates, bowls, pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, toaster, and trash bags are included.

The cabin has air conditioning, an electric furnace heater, ceiling fans, wood burner, leather couch, futon, and a large fire pit! It has beds to sleep 7 (possibly 8 with children - please see below for a description of the bedding arrangement), has satellite TV in the living room (the bedroom has a TV but needs a streaming device [that you provide] plugged into its HDMI port), a stereo system with Bluetooth, full kitchen with range, refrigerator, and microwave. Outside, there is a propane grill on the front porch. There is also ample space for a nice campfire to roast hot dogs and make S'Mores!

Bedding arrangement: There are a total of 4 mattresses on which to sleep: 1 queen size bed in the bedroom (sleeps 2), 2 twin bunkbeds in one corner of the greatroom (sleeps 2), and a pullout queen size couch (sleeps 2) {Entire cabin sleeps 6 adults or 7 total if a child stays}

Please note: I have very good feedback at my cabins, and I pride myself in trying to make sure folks enjoy their time here. I will do my best to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. In order to achieve that, I want to make sure you are aware of a few items:

I have been made aware at times that there are excessive spider webs in the cabin. We have tried everything to minimize this. However, I must say that the drop ceiling within the cabin does not allow for cleaning of these. It’s a textured ceiling and trying to remove the webs only results in ceiling tile surface damage. Thus, I do not mean to be blunt - but if you are offended by cobwebs please don’t book this cabin. We truly do our best to remove them but the spiders in this wooded area work quickly and we just cannot stay ahead of them. Thanks for understanding!

At times the satellite TV signal might be weak, or an item within the cabin might not be functional. Items such as these will be addressed ASAP by the property managers, and I will always do my best to make sure you are notified prior to booking.

The cabin packs MANY items into a small area. The master bath and half bath are compact, but functional!

Don't delay! Get out to the Hocking Hills!

PLEASE NOTE - this property is located in a rural setting with open grassy areas and woods nearby. We do our best to keep pesky rodents away but at times there could be a rodent that was just caught in a trap. We have tried poison, traps, and using nothing at all; we have landed on continuing to use mousetraps. Poison causes them to die in the most inopportune places and having no traps at all just leads to larger issues. If you happen to find a mouse in a trap we apologize - we truly are doing the best to can to make the pests disappear. Just please be prepared to place all food in sealable containers or in the refrigerator so you don’t attract them even more!

In addition to small furry pests, an occasional wood roach might be wandering around a cabin. I assure you these are NOT a cock roach. Please google “wood roach”. They feed on moist damp wood. They don’t really want to be inside but they might have been carried in on firewood or wandered in looking for a mate. They don’t eat human food and they don’t want to be inside. If you find one, please either dispose of it or simply throw it outside. Thanks for your patience as you venture in to the rural wooded areas of Hocking Hills!

Worst false advertisement ever
Do not be misled by the pictures posted on the website because this is not how the property looks in 2024! Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin! Me and the wife were so excited to spend a romantic weekend and a beautiful secluded cabin and did not receive that. the cabin was absolutely filthy and rundown, The screens in the windows were torn to shreds, not allowing you to open the windows without giant carpenter bees, and Wasps flying into the property ( a 5 dollar fix mind you ) also aware of the property owners post about critters, but this is a different situation. He tends to get very defensive on his responses yet doesn’t look like he’s put one dollar into updating the property. Floors were a fake wood that was completely torn up by moving furniture, The frames on the wall smashed with broken glass sticking out ( another cheap fix ) The house smelled like what My Wife compared to fat cheesy armpits, all of the furniture was gross stained and cheap, Outdoor shower gone & was a hose, Worst of all the one thing we look forward to was the hot tub which was full of green algae, Dirt, debris ,did not work, Control panel was broken along with one of the jets , paneling ripped off of it, exposing the insulation and rusted screws , The lid was a disgusting mess Along with rusted, sharp metal sticking out in different directions. There’s actually no excuse to rent out this rundown for the price they do & show pictures of the cabin which at one time did look beautiful

Close to Hocking Hills State Parks - Hikes and Waterfalls
We chose to stay here to visit Hocking Hills State Park but not camp or stay in the busy Lodge. The area is very scenic and we were prepared for rustic/in the woods location. But a few things were not what we were expecting/hoping for: The hot tub was only functional on one side "jets 1" and not "jets 2". The hot tub lid was broken into 2 pieces and the thermal lining was loose, so it was covered in thick plastic sheeting which made everything very slippery and hard to handle to uncover and recover. The "bedroom" had a flat screen tv hook up with no tv. The bathroom with a shower was so tiny that the sink was in the bedroom and your feet were on the shower ledge to sit and use the toilet. The shower stall was so narrow that the jet hit me right in the face and there was not enough room to turn away to wash your hair without standing directly in the water. The kitchen was stocked ok, and we were able to make breakfast and dinner each night and have a large lunch at one of the restaurants around Hocking Hills. The coffee pot worked and filters were provided. The kitchen table has a wobbly leg and tips over easily. The fridge and freezer doors were so close to the tiny bathroom that they bumped the tiny bathroom door frame and scared someone if they were in there. So, its a good home base to hike and see Hocking Hills State Park, but its not as well kept as I hoped. This property would not be good for small kids as there is no bathtub, just a tiny slippery shower.

Peaceful, just as described
The renter sent detailed instructions for how to find/access the house. Everything was just as described. Peaceful setting, clean, and I love the fact it was pet friendly! My dogs were very comfortable. A nice break from reality. I will be back in warmer weather when we can also enjoy a hike!

Yearly Hunting Trip with the Guys
Just what we were looking for. Had enough space for all four of us. Really liked that it had a big yard so we could leave the enclosed trailer with all of our gear at the cabin while we hunted. Overall the cabin is exactly what we were expecting.... A rustic cabin in the woods.
