DESCRIPTION

Our chalet boasts 4 private bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a game room, with the view of Mount Leconte just out our front room wall of windows. From our chalet, proximity to major points of interest are just minutes away so you can maximize your vacation time! What more could you want? It has beauty & quick access to most major restaurants & attractions in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. All renters also receive discounts to over 30 local featured restaurants, attractions, shops and more! And free guest passes for our summertime guests to any of the 3 nearby Chalet Village clubhouses** (**important information at bottom of this description about clubhouse accessibility), featuring outdoor swimming and other amenities, all courtesy of our affiliation with the Chalet Village Owner Association. With summertime quickly approaching, now is the time to book your getaway with “Bearly Afraid”, before peak dates are gone.

We have updated our chalet with new log furniture in 3 of our bedrooms to further give you the culture & ambiance of The Great Smoky Mountains. In addition, we have added new log coffee & end tables, 3 tier shelf, & area rugs.

“Bearly Afraid” is a pet friendly* home attractively located in a unique vacation/residential area (Chalet Village) right on the main road that traverses Gatlinburg's western slope, and from the back deck and living room windows there's a gorgeous view of the eastern mountain ridge and third tallest peak in the Smoky Mountains - Mount LeConte.

The large wooded lot provides excellent privacy & beauty, and noise is practically non-existent in this area. This entire chalet is perched over a sloping landscape for eye catching beauty of Mount LeConte, and is located only 7-10 minutes from both downtown Gatlinburg and Ober Gatlinburg .

The chalet is a beautiful, overly decorated, two story chalet, with two full levels (almost 2000 square feet). The outside features a stained log look, while the inside boasts workmanship of tongue & groove walls, as well as new decorative wallboard. The center-of-room stone fireplace adds for a cozy & evening romantic getaway, and it's not unusual for the moon to slowly drift across all the front room windows in almost every season, adding to a spectacular visual delight on clear nights!

Whether you're a small group of four, or a large family/friend group, “Bearly Afraid” offers four private bedrooms throughout the chalet which can easily accommodate eight guests, with one full size hide-a-bed on standby for two extra guests, and the second couch can serve as additional slumber pad, for a total of 11 house guests total!! All four bedrooms have cozy queen-size beds, flat screen LED TV’s, ceiling fans w/remotes, closets, and amenities.

On the main level are two bedrooms, with a full shower/tub combination bathroom, with black granite top sink. The upstairs bedrooms has a shared full shower/tub combination bathroom with a rustic cabinet and European sink and farm waterfall faucet. Both bathrooms have handheld shower heads for your convenience. In the game room outside the two upstairs bedrooms, you can also see the beautiful view of Mount LeConte. Each bedroom has it’s own name, so you’ll know whose staying in what room!

The kitchen has been updated with new cabinets for a stunning rustic look as well as a tin overhang & a tin front decorated island in the kitchen to complete the rustic look. It is complete with all necessary appliances – Refrigerator. stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, cooking & eating utensils, & dinnerware. All you need to bring are groceries to fix your country meal. We also feature a full-size washer/dryer in a laundry room just off the kitchen, so you can do your laundry right here. No need to worry about going to a laundromat or packing home unwashed dirty laundry.

Just outside the sliding glass doors on our main level deck, are an array of seating rockers for you & your guest to enjoy the view of Mount LeConte. While relaxing, enjoy a glass of wine while enjoying the fresh Smoky Mountain air. Around to the covered porch, and tucked within an ideal spot surrounded by large trees and pines, are two porch rocking chairs for you to sit and enjoy quiet time or read a book while admiring the sound of crickets and locusts on those warm summer afternoons and evenings. We have added a bistro, so you can enjoy a peaceful breakfast, lunch or dinner on the porch, while enjoying the mountain view.
In the front room, we've recently added a comfy new couch, which allows for plenty of sitting room for you & your guest. Also on the main level is the décor that makes it feel like you’re truly in The Great Smoky Mountains & is decorated to let you enjoy the rustic life, but has those modern conveniences tucked in as well. We have a highlighted ‘tool’ wall, ‘ski’ wall, ‘fishing’ wall, & ‘hunting’ wall to highlight activities in the area. Each room is equipped with high speed WiFi and Cable TV, which exist throughout the chalet.

Just 3 miles away is Ober Gatlinburg, a sharp and modern ski resort with top shelf ski slopes, a large indoor ice skating rink, restaurants, lounges, and even a bear zoo. The aerial tram to Ober Gatlinburg, takes you directly to the heart of downtown in 10 minutes, and you can walk throughout downtown Gatlinburg with its numerous shops, sights, and restaurants.

This chalet has been known for its bear sightings & the reason for its name, hence its name “Bearly Afraid”. We supply a high powered “Bear Light” just as extra convenience, in addition to the already well lighted entry and parking area(s). Please just remember... DO NOT FEED OR APPROACH THE BEARS.

Since “Bearly Afraid” is privately owned & managed, prices are competitive, with special ‘seasonal offers’. Since this is a new rental in the Gatlinburg area, we don’t have a lot of feedback as of yet, but we are sure that we offer one of the best decorated chalet in The Village as well as The Smokies to help you encompass the culture of the area. But most of all, we invite you to come see why “Bearly Afraid” is the only mountain chalet that is your country home away from home for your vacation!

We live in a small place in Eastern KY. It doesn't even have a stop light. If you blink, you would miss our little township. We have 3 kids that are 21, 15, & 12. We are at the stage with our kids that sometimes it is trying, since they are trying to find their own personality, and to find their voice and become apart of a productive society, while growing into adulthood. We also have 3 fur babies. Tilly is our sweet little pug girl. Sketch is our Westie, while Khloe, our Scottie, is our newest addition. I got her for my birthday in February 2016. They are all spoiled rotten. We also have a pot bellied pig name Wilbur. He was supposed to be a micro pot belly pig, not getting much over 30 lbs, but he now weighs almost 100lbs, and too is spoiled. We also have chickens & ducks, and baby chicks are born frequently. We are just normal country folk, but like yourself, we love The Great Smoky Mountains.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property in July 2016. It was a private home. We have updated a lot of areas, to make it an overnight rental, with the kitchen and bathrooms being updated with new features. It is overly decorated, but this makes it feel cozy and more like our home away from home. The cabinets in the kitchen has been refurbished with wood that we retrieved from Terry's childhood home. We just purchased a new dining room table in December of 2016, to enhance and add to the rustic look. There are a lot of personal touches, which I am sure you won't find in other rentals.

We bought this property because we are in Gatlinburg many times a year with our children and furbabies, and found ourselves spending so much money to stay there. Besides that, we couldn't bring our dogs. There aren't many places that are pet friendly (but we are!!). So we decided to just buy a property there. We chose this property for the location, but mainly for the view, and because we can bring our pets!! We love Mount LeConte, and could sit for hours on the deck and just be in awe of the view. We also love the fact that we can take in the Smoky Mountain fresh air, especially after a rain shower. This location is also centrally located with access to Gatlinburg just minutes away. Thankfully, we have survived the wildfires that struck The Great Smoky Mountains in November 2016. Our chalet was untouched. Much of the area around our chalet has been devastated by the destruction of many homes in Chalet Village being burnt to the ground. We count our blessings daily.

We still have things to do to our Smoky Mountain home. We plan on a hot tub install sometime in 2017, as well as updates to the countertops, backsplash, and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, hopefully in 2017 as well. Hopefully we will have a set gas grill somewhere around our new hot tub install. We are excited to offer you Bearly Afraid, and hope you choose us to enjoy your visit to The Great Smoky Mountains.
